  1. Victoria Says:

Andrea…. I have to admit, that was a rather blatant show of Higher Power….. sorry bout the rug!! I have been using my Higher to assist in Focus. On the issues that really need to be taken care of instead of the trivial things I so often find to do around me. Two issues are eating and sleeping. Yes, I do eat and sleep, yet, not as I need for my body to really reap the best reward. I put them off to do other things, mindless things sometimes, and then, gee, I do not feel like I have much energy….hmmm…..OH, did I eat today? Or, WATER!! How many times do we just need a long cool drink of water and go about wondering again why there is a lag in our system. So, today, I was out and about and kept seeing fast food places. I do not eat FFood, so, would not stop for any. Yet, as soon as I got home, I noticed the fridge, the water was first to go into my tank and then food was steaming as I unloaded the rest of the car. So, Focus on taking care of the Bod is my recent request of Higher and guess what? Yeppers……Already towing me towards my goals……WoW!! what a relief to feel I do not have to do all this on my own anymore……I can simply call on the Powers and get some much need guidance…….Thanks!! to all the Powers that assist me in each moment of this lifetime……Ah…….

I’m reminded of the Christian way of doing this - of handing one’s life over to Jesus Christ. In essence the same thing as handing one’s life over to the Higher Self. What a sense of freedom, of relief! Of not having to worry anymore. Of letting go and living according to what needs doing in the moment.

  3. Akemi - Yes to Me Says:

    Andrea,
    Cute story!
Well, I’m fine with my daily cup of coffee, but I need help reducing my sugar intake. . .I’ll ask for help. Thank you.

  4. Rose-Anne Kumpunen Says:

I just wanted to share a recent experience (this happened just the other night actually) regarding asking for guidance and help. My son started to have another asthma attack and so I asked for guidance in how to alleviate this naturally (I’m doing my best to avoid the puffers…). In a dream, or a thought — I was so tired I don’t know if I was sleeping or not, I saw myself making a soup with garlic, onions, and broccoli.

So the next morning I did some research online for some natural anti-inflammatory foods and garlic and onion were tops on the list. And broccoli provides a big shot of vitamin C which is very important for his immune system.

So it really does work. Ask. Listen. And then take action (or let your spirit guide take action as your in your coffee incident). They are here to help us when we are open to receiving the information.

Thanks for the tip on the radio show the other day, Andrea! I hope others get some time to listen in. I’ve had a few people comment already that they loved your advice!

  5. Andrea Hess Says:

Victoria - Exactly! We don’t have to do it all on our own … we have vast resources at our disposal! Isn’t it great? :-)

KL - I agree … somewhat! I always think the idea of “handing our lives over” to God, JC, Spirit, etc. is a little bit dangerous. There’s a fine line between appropriate surrender and abdicating responsibility. Our will is still done. We’re still creating, even if we say “Whatever Spirit thinks is best for me, I don’t care what it looks like.” We may well receive something we don’t greatly care about … since that’s what we requested!

It’s like getting into a cab and telling the driver - take me “somewhere, whatever you think is best.” We’re probably just going around in circles. Or life just happens “to” us. On the other hand, we can tell the driver “I want to go to point XYZ, by whichever route you feel is best.” Then we are practicing appropriate surrender, because we’re letting go of the “how” of getting there.

Akemi - That is exactly the kind of thing you can get assistance around! It’s so funny how we don’t always think of asking for help for the “mundane” or “little” things in life - but that’s where life happens, right?

Rose-Anne - awesome story! I’m thrilled you asked and listened, and received great guidance. Fantastic, isn’t it? Thank you again for the opportunity! I’m going to post it here this weekend.

    Blessings,
    Andrea

  6. Lexi Sundell Says:

What a great story! We have great unseen resources if we ask and are willing to receive them. The higher the resistance level, the messier the results, however, as you showed so clearly.

I completely agree about the free will and choice aspect of things. We need to be aware of our soul purpose and committed to it, which allows other facets of our life to fall into proper relationship with it. I keep trying to get more graceful about it but have my own equivalent of your coffee moment from time to time, ha!

  7. Tom Volkar / Delightful Work Says:

I find it interesting that when I’ve asked my higher self I’ve gotten pretty clear and powerful guidance. Yet for some crazy reason I don’t make it a regular practice to ask. I don’t necessarily think it’s always ego getting in the way because my forgetfulness isn’t reluctance. Perhaps it’s nothing more than another bad habit that I need to bring greater consciousness to. Thanks for the reminder.

  8. Deb Call Says:

I can identify with Tom Volkar’s comment that asking for guidance from my Higher Self isn’t as automatic as I’d like it to be. When I deliberately ask for specific guidance, it generally comes through swiftly. Asking for what I want (from anyone, earthly or higher up!) isn’t easy for me. Sounds like more practice is in order here!

  9. Andrea Hess Says:

Lexi - Thank you! You’re so right - it’s our resistance that usually causes all of life’s “messes,” whether they are literal, emotional, interpersonal … :-)

Tom - Oh, I think creating forgetfulness is one of the ego’s favorite tricks! Remembering is a function of the mind, of which the ego has been firmly in control for most of us. It’s amazing how we can “forget” these little practices. It’s not reluctance of your true Self. It’s reluctance at the ego-level. The ego knows that if you ask for guidance, it will have less say because it has to move over and make room for your Higher Self!

Deb - It takes vigilance, it really does! Every once in a while, I still catch myself trying to “figure something out” and recognize that I could just ASK. Old habits die hard, right? :-)

    Blessings,
    Andrea

  10. Albert | UrbanMonk.Net Says:

Hey Andrea - that is a really cool story. I’ve been playing with stuff like this for a while now and little coincidences have been happening. I’m not sure if they are coincidences or genuine little gifts but they’re so great I’m not complaining :D

  11. Patricia - Spiritual Journey Of A Lightworker Says:

Ok, Andrea, I did what you suggested and I am asking for Divine guidance to assist me in making choices that will align me with my highest path and purpose. I have a number of things that I do want to do that I haven’t been doing yet. Boy, I had to think about how to word that statement so I didn’t say the word “should.” I really do want to do these things and I have been putting off doing them because of either laziness or fear. I was just reminded that fear is always about the future so fear isn’t an option where my actions are concerned any more. (Tom, I can’t remember if this came from your article or an article that I just read from Tom Stine? I enjoyed reading both articles today.) This has been a very productive day for me simply because I decided to sit down and catch up on some of the blog articles that I have gotten behind on reading.

  12. Andrea Hess Says:

Albert - Thanks for stopping by! I don’t actually believe in “coincidences.” I think they are all little miracles!

Patricia - Isn’t it funny how easily “should” can creep into our vocabulary? I love the ccomment that “fear is always about the future.” So true!

    Blessings,
    Andrea
