  1. Kelli Says:

I was just thinking about this myself. We have to be the ones to set the pace and raise the consciousness of the planet. Whatever we are thinking or doing will come back to us (the law of cause and effect). If we can get just a small group to change their thinking and become more aware we will be in better shape. We will also attract better situations and people into our lives(the law of resonance).

Great blog as always Andrea! :)

Sending you the highest LOVE & LIGHT!!

  2. Akemi - Yes to Me Says:

Interesting post. So how does a person become a Lightworker or negative being? Is it by choice, by free will? Can someone in the “between” or even someone currently in the dark become a Lightworker by choosing so? Or is there some other factors like previous life curse?

I know there are plenty of people who likes to put down others. They are the ones you call negative beings, right? It’s interesting to read this post today because I was just fighting the temptation to give my attention to such negative people. It is hard because I feel hurt by their mean comments and want to talk back.

Thank you for a good article,

  3. Lola Fayemi / Real World Spiritual and Personal Development blog Says:

    Hi Andrea

Thanks for this post, it’s awesome and there is sooo much there. You are indeed a Lightworker and bring so much light through this blog to us fellow Lightworkers. There are no accidents, I have become a new subscriber recently and you posts are a real reflection of where I’m at.

I have taken a lot from this post but the main thing is the clarity that fear, anger etc are an absence of light and instead of fighting against it and giving it more energy I could increase light, which also sound like more fun.

In love, light and abundance x x x

  4. Tom Volkar / Delightful Work Says:

Very interesting post, I’m looking forward to reading part two. Lately I’ve been consciously breaking away from traditional business associates who are certainly in that middle, ineffective state. They spout abundance but their actions scream loudly that they endorse scarcity. It feels so much better to be free from all of that fear. I hadn’t really considered them as being negative or myself as a light-worker. Perhaps it’s time for a new self-assessment?

  5. Andrea Hess Says:

Kelli - I agree with you that awareness is so important - it is the first and completely necessary step towards change. Although I think we can never “get” anyone to change their thinking. We have to live by example and keep the doors of opportunity for positive choices open. But in the end, everyone decides for themselves …

Thank you so much for commenting - it’s great to have you contribute to the discussion!

Akemi - It’s a Soul-level choice. I’ll talk about this more in my upcoming post. Light is always available to everyone. And yes - putting people down, taking the wind out of their sails, is definitely a negative behavior. It diminishes us, right? But often it’s so, so subtle … and we get used to it! I’ll talk more about how to deal with this, too.

Tom - I think that middle, ineffective state is the one that’s most common. Lots of talk, no results - although this can also be due to Soul-level blocks and restrictions! But I would definitely consider you a Lightworker!

    Blessings,
    Andrea

  6. Nickie Says:

Thank you for this Andrea! Interestingly enough, this has been my conscious goal most of my life. Good to read more information about it though to help point out faster the negativity and how not to engage with it :) Perfect message for me to read this morning!

  7. Slade | Shift Your Spirits Says:

Andrea, reading this post, the phrase “Let there be light!” takes on a whole new expansive context.

I realize that I’ve often thought of the Creator’s famous initial cry of “Action!” in the Origin Myth as a “technical” moment — from a cosmological perspective, a light switch corresponding to the Big Bang…

But “Let there be Light!” could almost be an on-going rallying prime directive — like a campaign slogan for a Lightworkers’ movement. Maybe this would make a nice bumper-sticker!
    :-)

You’re right, the good news is that ultimately when you shine a light anywhere, darkness can’t exist. But it can throw powerful “shadows”… I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it means to be “operating in your own shadow” — a tricky scenario that arises from the presence of powerful light in the midst of blocks, objects… Anything physical can throw a variety of shadows…

  8. Barbara Says:

    Hi Andrea,

I couldn’t help but notice parallels in your explanation to those I grew up learning as a child. The goal of heaven, the delay (maybe permanent) in purgatory or the alternative of hell. And how very powerfully those lessons affected my life.

Although those religious teachings possibly did me more harm than good in the delivery, fear of two, fear of not getting to the other, rather than looking toward one, while seeing the others. It then was instilled in my subconscious mind at a time of great influence, with a very young mind’s ability to discern or not.

There is one thing I know today, however. I never completely discounted the idea of a heaven of some sort. Maybe it’s just not that blue sky place, but sunny.

  9. Andrea Hess Says:

Nickie - I’m glad this was timely for you! I’ll definitely talk more about avoiding negativity in future posts!

Slade - What a fantastic comment - this really got my brain going. I’m wondering whether there’s a difference between the shadows created by the combination of Light and blocks … and the chosen darkness of Souls that do not work with Light. Hmmmm. Because Lightworkers tend to think of our shadows as what makes us less than Divine. But then, without our Light, there wouldn’t be shadows, right? Whereas people who never work on their shadow may not be bothered by those spots that have absence of Light … because there’s no differentiation, it’s all dark. Okay, I’m just thinking out loud now. There’s no good conclusion to this comment! :-)

Barbara - Thank you so much for your comment! I love the analogy … Lightworkers live their heaven now. People who are in between the two energies may be defined as being in purgatory already. And negative Souls - well, you get the picture. I personally believe that heaven is already within us all, always available!

    Blessings,
    Andrea

  10. Erin Melnick - Modern & Millions Says:

    Dear Andrea,

This is a fascinating post, thank you so much.

I suppose another point to consider is that LightWorkers must also take responsibility for the energy that we give away to the dark. If light is being sucked from us, we are allowing it, or granting it … it is our choice to release it. And I think just being conscious of this release will automatically initiate the generation of more energy. When we connect with Source, when we recognize the divinity within us, the supply of energy that we receive from Source is limitless … and spreading our energy does not then mean that we have less, or that we are taking it from someone else. More to all and less to none!

    Warmly and with blessings,

    Erin.

  11. Suzanne Bird-Harris Says:

    Andrea,

I can remember being 5 years old in Sunday School learning the song, “This Little Light of Mine” and truly “getting” that I had the Light of God within me, and that my purpose here was to let it shine. Then it seems almost immediately, everything about church and religion conspired to slap me down and demand, “Who do you think you are to think you are remotely ‘God-like’? You are a sinner and if you don’t change your ways, you’re going to hell when you die.”

Fast forward 25 years, and I came to realize that if there is such a place as ‘hell’, it is here, living this life with no connection to the Light that is within us, not some fiery place I’m headed when I die. Therefore ‘heaven’ must be not so much a place, but the connection to Divine Source that is available to us at all times. The challenge, then, becomes living this life, in this world of duality and human form, while maintaining that connection: letting our Light shine while we are here.

Now, almost 10 years later, I am still learning how to let my light shine, still growing my connection to Divine Source, and still working to reconcile ‘religion’ with ’spirituality’. As a result, I have more of what my Grandma would call ‘faith’ than ever before. Ironic, because my Grandma, if she were still alive, would be ‘praying for me’ because I still don’t go to church. :)

I’m also a walking, talking example of what you said above, “Lightworkers attract either other Lightworkers - or they attract Negative Beings.” I have attracted some very Negative Beings. But this post of yours gave me an ‘Ah-Ha!’ moment where that’s concerned that immediately brought me peace and strength when I needed it most.

Andrea, I am so grateful for you and your Light that you so freely shine for the rest of us. And I CANNOT WAIT until Wednesday for class to start!!! :)

    Suzanne

  12. Andrea Hess Says:

Suzanne - Thank you! I agree with you completely! Hell is definitely being cut off from Source, having no recognition of our own Divinity or power to create our experience. And lots of people are there, right now. I take my definition of heaven even further than letting our Light shine, I think. Total identification with Divine Light, with God. Experiencing ourselves as connected to the Divine, One with the Divine. Aaaah, heaven … better than chocolate any day! :-)

So glad you’ll be in the class! I can’t wait, either!

    Blessings,
    Andrea

  13. Kelli Says:

This blog is sooo true Andrea thanks again for the reminder! Sending you pure love & light!

  14. ReddyK - The Atma Jyoti Blog Says:

The problem with evil is that it is small and petty. It results when people shrink into their own egos, into their own petty lusts and desires. And when that happens, they begin to hate the light.

“Men loved darkness rather than the light: for their works were evil. For every one that doth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved.” (Gospel of St. John) They become like bugs hiding under a rock, who begin to squirm and flee when the rock is turned over.

They then begin to spew their venom at the light and those who aspire to the light, because lightworkers “spoil the curve.” They attempt to bring down those who are the “Godwards” to their own level. This applies to incarnate and disincarnate souls.

What do we do? We bless them, and go our way. We protect ourselves by continuing our purification and ascent, and being aware of the seeds of ignorance which we have sewn in our souls over the ages, and making sure we do not water and nurture them.

I am again happy to see you write about the realities of spiritual life which some would not wish to hear or write about. And you do it well.

  15. Andrea Hess Says:

Hi ReddyK - Thank you! I love what you say about how we handle those that try to bring us down! It’s so true - we go on our way and honor the choices of those around us, without making them our own. Thanks again!

    Blessings,
    Andrea

  17. Todd Says:

Andrea– this is a fantastic article and truly well stated. It is amazing to me the cunningness of the mind which loves to perpetuate negative energy. Even those of who work hard to be aware of negativity are still vulnerable to it. The process of awakening is certainly an interesting one, and surrounding oneself with a lightworker is very important. I will be staying tuned Andrea, and again thank you!

  18. Debbie Atwell Says:

    Hi Andrea,

I’ve always thought that Divine Source could never be anything other than Love, and that all souls would eventually come back to the light. So it’s a little disturbing to think that negative souls could actually change our Source to match their vibration. Or is this a moot point because if even one Lightworker exists, that light can never be extinguished?

This subject hits so close to home because of my son. You said he was a positive soul though very influenced with negative entities. So do I need to hold any concern that he will become a truly negative soul? (Sorry if my spiritual naivety is showing!)

    Debbie Atwell

  19. Andrea Hess Says:

Hi Debbie - Divine Source is definitely Love, which is why we have the tremendous gift of free will. But that free will also includes the choice of destroying or acting against Source itself. I know this is a disturbing notion … but that is why Lightworkers on our planet are working so hard right now!

No worries for your son, though! Negative entity attachments do NOT mean that a Soul would become negative. You know, negative Souls don’t actually suffer from negativity, because it feeds them. Negative Souls don’t engage in self-destructive behavior, for example! Lightworker Souls, on the other hand, suffer very much from negative entity attachments, because they feel the separation this causes from Divine Source very deeply.

This is a topic all of us have to come to terms with, and Soul Realignment Practitioners especially!

    Blessings,
    Andrea

  20. Ayman Sawaf Says:

You make an important point in this article. Acknowledging negative emotions, instead of trying to shut down, or reject them, is an important part of maintaining a healthy emotional inner life and a means to manifest a positive resonance that impacts others and dispels negative energy. In my latest book, Sacred Commerce: The Rise of the Global Citizen, I show how ancient civilizations realized this, and practiced a high level of emotional alchemy to create a positive environment that could support advanced culture. For instance, the Merchant Priests of Egypt could add a “drop of joy” into the midst of anger, and create the resonance of courage. These are the skills we need to advance a positive future.
