Celebrating Expansion

It’s been a delightfully crazy week for me. Four days in a row of all-new experiences that definitely challenged the paradigms within which I normally operate - and I’m a bigger, better human container for my Divine Spirit for it! It’s amazing how breaking free of safe and easy routine can shift our perspective. Here’s how it unfolded:
Sunday - my first healing arts expo. My first experience doing very unstructured mini-readings. And one of the rare occasions where I see my client in person, right in front of me. As one would guess, breaking the usual structure of my readings opened up the doors to receiving information in a different way. I learned that I still only attract truly wonderful Souls, even at such a public event. I learned that I can deliver accurate readings for over five hours, with only the occasional potty break, without my brain exploding. And I learned that I don’t have to be afraid of absorbing any energy from my clients, that my spiritual defense system is truly reliable. At the end of the day, I was tired but not drained. I found that incredibly reassuring. Most of all, it was a real joy connecting to clients - even in such a short time-span - in person.
Then my week got really crazy. I did ten radio interviews in three days. I had never done mainstream media before, and I got a crash course this week. I did drive time segments and talked about the spiritual side of Halloween, the true nature of earthbound spirits, ghosts and poltergeists, and intuitive development. What a blast! Some of the hosts were total skeptics, some gave me a bit of a hard time, and others were surprisingly open. Most importantly, Allan Handelman gave me the unique opportunity to do live readings for listeners who called into the show. A definite first for me!
Along the way, I had to confront a lot of my preconceived notions. Here’s what I learned:
- It’s okay to entertain as we teach. I hate to think of myself as “entertainment” because I do take my work so incredibly seriously. And in the media, entertainment definitely comes first. Then again, who wants information presented in a dull and dry way? Let’s face it - even as spiritual teachers, we need to communicate our message in a way that audiences can relate to.
- Who am I to assume that I know which audiences will “get” my message, and which won’t? I think I was a bit of an audience snob before, thinking that mainstream might not be the place for me. If just one person out there heard “Unlock Your Intuition” and thought to themselves “Gee, I can do that?,” then I did my job. We plant seeds with every situation within which we convey our message. The rest is simply not up to us.
- I’m wildly passionate about my message, my platform, whatever you want to call it. Being allowed to talk about our connection to the spiritual realm made me “high” all week long. I was practically flying! If we could just all connect to our Higher Self, to our Divinity, then we would also recognize that we are all One. And then this nonsense of killing each other and our planet would have to stop.
- I once had a teacher who expressed her distaste for “psychics on parade.” This was her term for public displays of psychic ability. And I can certainly see where such demonstrations might be offered out of ego. But my take on it is this: I know that everyone is as psychic as I am, if only they cared to develop this part of themselves. That’s why I have a practitioner certification program - it’s a learned skill! To me, live and on air psychic readings are my way of saying: “Look at what is possible. Look at how perfectly interconnected we all are.” Witnessing a psychic reading can expand our awareness of ourselves beyond the physical. We don’t look for what we think doesn’t exist. Listening to a psychic reading on the radio just may plant another seed - that we are, indeed, spiritual beings in a human experience.
So there it is - my week of expansion! Share your thoughts on planting seeds of awareness beyond your own comfort zone …
Blessings,
Andrea

Great way to look at things Andrea - I wouldn’t be surprised if things just explode for you. Your book is such a grounded, step-by-step way to understand and use intuition. It’s great that you released it right before Halloween, because it gave media a great tie-in…
I’ve worked in media (including hosting the type of radio shows you would’ve been interviewed on)… and the biggest thing was always finding enough interesting guests/stories to fill the page/minutes… media are desperate for story, and if you can provide them with something interesting, different, and entertaining.. they will love you.
“Psychics on parade” I don’t mean to disrespect your teacher but it is definitely spell ego there. Spiritual without entertainment, so what does it becomes? Religion? Entertainment for the mainstream media is especially important to get the messages out; this is the quickest way I suppose. I congratulate you for the big step you have achieved that many of us can’t yet. Enjoy your high in spirit and let others’ ego be ego. What’s so big deal? I’m really happy for you.
