Following inspiration

Like most writers, I read a lot - about spirituality, intuition, marketing, blogging … there is so much information available on just about anything. This weekend, I was reading a blog post that was a teaser for yet another free teleclass by a marketing “expert.” My brain immediately said “Ooooh, yummy” at the possibility of learning something new. Fresh ideas to churn around, more tweaks for my business, the possibilities that come with new input. My mind was having a great time. But just as I was about to sign up, I realized that the last thing I needed was more information. I remembered the very recent article I wrote on inspiration. And I decided to take two or three weeks off from information, and go with inspiration instead.

Here’s my game plan: I have a consciously desired outcome, a vision for my business that’s extremely clear. Since the “how” isn’t up to me anyway, I am sitting down every morning to see what I am truly inspired to do. If that’s writing - great. If it’s filing … okay, I admit, I can’t imagine ever being inspired to do my filing. But if I were, I would go with that! Instead of planning my day down to the minute, I am leaving myself space to listen to the wise and infinite part of myself that knows how to get where I want to go. I am surrendering the “how” to my Higher Self, my Guides and teachers and angels, and the Universe in general. I have to admit, there are parts of me that are highly uncomfortable with this. My busy mind wants to run the show. But underneath the doubts and protests of my thoughts, there is a remarkable sense of peace.

So far, the amount and quality of work I am getting done is quite surprising! I am not sure how it will all come together in the end, but I’m having a great time …

We often forget that we already have all the information we need. If we could just sit and look at our intent, breathe into it, and allow the possible options for moving towards our desired outcome arise, then we might discover that we can easily move forward with utter authenticity, and in a way that deeply honors our inner wisdom. Our Higher Self might have the opportunity to give us its input, wisdom and courage to manifest what we desire. We might allow ourselves to expand into our own competence, our inner knowing-ness.

Want to join me in this experiment? What are you busy creating right now? And what are you really inspired to do? The two might not, at first glance, even have much to do with each other! Are you willing to let inspiration be your guide? Let me know what you think …

Blessings,
Andrea Hess
