What is a Lightworker?

I came across the perspective the other day that being a Lightworker means bringing more Divine Light into a world that is in desperate need of it. I would disagree with this notion.
The concept that anyone or anything would have need of “more Light” and that somehow we could be the ones to impart this Light upon them is egocentric at the very least. The whole world is created of Light. All of us, even those who have decided to no longer avail themselves of this resource, are beings of Light. All the Light the world and everybody in it could ever need is already present. So our Light is not something we need to bestow upon others.
To me, being a Lightworker means that we have made a conscious decision to uphold the Light from which we were created. Our Light is the defining aspect of our existence. As Lightworkers, we strive continually for greater awareness that we are Light. We know Light is omnipresent and always accessible, in every person and situation. We turn away from every false belief and illusion that tries to separate us from Light. We learn that negativity, which is of course merely the absence of Light, holds only the power if we allow it.
The Lightworker path is first and foremost about embracing our own Light. This is what “enlightenment” is about, after all. Through our increasing awareness, we step into our full potential as beings of Light. On this path, the radiance of our Light increases in the world. Sometimes the flame of our awareness shines so brightly that we light a spark in others. Their awareness ignites and they become conscious of their Light, also. This is how we assist and inspire each other on our path.
We cannot give our Light away, or share it with others. To try would be to invalidate that those around us are beings of Light equal to our own. How could we strive to offer something that is inherent in every Being, divinely created as we ourselves are?
Someone recently told me that he feels to selfish to be a Lightworker, because he is mostly interested in his own spiritual evolution and path to enlightenment. To me, this is actually the essence of Lightwork. After all, the only person we can truly be responsible for, the only person whose awareness we can truly effectively increase, is ourselves.
Of course, as our awareness brings us greater joy, abundance, and fulfillment, we long to share our consciousness with others. I’m obviously in a service profession myself! But we must never neglect our own spiritual development, or put it last on our list. Especially those of us in the helping and healing professions often forget to serve ourselves. Serving others cannot be our only path of spiritual development. We must first and foremost serve our own Light, or we cannot inspire those we serve.
Blessings,
Andrea

I agree with you Andrea on bestows light upon others is egocentric. But I don’t see anything wrong with that. If we keep thinking we are separate from one another then it is wrong but if we think everybody is one and one light only then why not be egocentric. Being egocentric is sure bad if there is the other end of it, but in oneness there will be no other end. Egocentric will become motivation and a proud achievement instead. Towards Oneness leave no room for judgement.
