Are you ready to jump?

My husband was out of town on business this week. I thought it might be a nice surprise for him to find a new medicine cabinet in our bathroom upon his return, rather than the atrocity that has been hanging there since we bought our house. So, I bought a new medicine cabinet and took down the old one. Needless to say, a portion of the wall needed to be repainted. Since I’ve never liked the wall color in our bathroom, I figured I might as well repaint the whole wall - no, wait, the whole bathroom. And, while I was at it, a new shower curtain, bathmat, and towels were also necessary to complement my new color scheme. So here I am, wondering how I got myself into an entire bathroom make-over.
What does this have to do with spiritual development, you wonder? A lot. Change begets more change. Take one small step forward, and four more will reveal themselves. You may think you’re just going for a weekend workshop, or a single session with a gifted practitioner, or you’re going to read just this one book. Next thing you know, you’ve jumped down the rabbit hole. The path has taken a hold of you. You can put up resistance and struggle, or you can just enjoy the ride. Either way, change has happened, and is creating more change. You’ve opened up to Spirit, and now there is a wind blowing through your life, a fresh breeze that clears the air and leaves nothing the same.
Many of you know what’s next on your path of spiritual evolution. You know the choice that will lead you down the rabbit hole. But you’re just standing there, wondering if you’re really ready to take that leap. You already know of the modality, the book, the event that will change your life irreversibly forever. You’re just not sure you want to sign up for that particular ride just yet.
Here’s the one thing I learned from my bathroom make-over this week. There’s never a good time to undertake a major project, in your home or in your life. It is always inconvenient, it always makes a mess, and you’re going to have to give up some of your time to deal with it. But, like it or not, eventually you are going to get so uncomfortable with your life circumstances (as I finally did with my bathroom!) that change becomes the more attractive option. So, wait for the discomfort - or go ahead and jump! You’re going to get on that ride, anyway!
Blessings,
Andrea
P.S. My bathroom looks great!
