Spiritual awakening

All of us who are actively pursuing our spiritual development will eventually experience some physical discomfort as our body begins its energetic shift towards enlightenment. The activation of kundalini energy is a necessary series of events as our body works towards containing a higher energetic vibration rate. This activation is not necessarily pleasant! My latest energetic shift left me sleep-deprived for several nights, vibrating in every cell of my body, and unable to eat (but, hey, I lost a couple of pounds!).  Needless to say, it was very difficult to take care of my clients - and, worst of all, my two-year-old.
One of my teachers describes this sort of energetic event as “an impersonal force” that takes us over in a very personal way. When this energy becomes active, it doesn’t care about our busy schedule, our responsibilities towards our families, or our social calendar. This is why people used to go and sit on mountain tops in order to gain enlightenment! It’s hard to run your life in the physical and go through these energetic transitions! But that is now what we are here to do.  The time of renunciation is over - we are now learning how to live fully in the physical, and still dedicate ourselves to our spiritual evolution.  So here’s what I learned in this latest phase of spiritual awakening:

  1. Don’t resist. It prolongs the discomfort.  If I had allowed the quality of my sleep to change to a more aware, lucid state, I probably wouldn’t have stayed awake for a few nights in a row.
  2. Take hot baths with sea salt and lavender essential oils.  It removes excess energy.  A bath like this acts like hitting the “reset” button on your energy field.
  3. Drink lots of water.  It allows your body to move through its transitions faster.
  4. Practice yoga.  The physical aspect of yoga was specifically designed to prepare the body for these energetic shifts.  Yoga interacts with and balances the endocrine system, which is the meeting place of the energetic and physical properties of your body.  You don’t need an intense practice - twenty minutes to a half hour will do the trick.
  5. Follow your instincts.  If your favorite foods suddenly don’t appeal to you, or you have a craving for a particular fruit or vegetable, listen to the wisdom of your body.
  6. Nurture yourself.  I found getting a massage incredibly helpful.  I also took a day off from work to deal with the fatigue.
  7. Ask your Spirit Guides to assist you in setting parameters around the transition.  This is not something we can do for ourselves, but our masters, teachers and Guides on the spiritual plane can energetically support us.  Beings on higher dimensional planes of existence sometimes don’t understand concepts such as a job, physical sleep, or having to take care of children.  Ask for allowances to be made so that your third-dimensional responsibilities are accommodated.
  8. Have a teacher or mentor available.  Sometimes these transitions can look remarkably like psychic attacks.  If you’re not sure that you can tell the difference, get assistance from someone who can!

Blessings,
Andrea
