Reconnecting to Divinity

I cannot stress enough how important it is to reconnect to our own sense of Divinity on a regular basis. This is what spiritual practice - of any kind, whether formal or not - is ideal for. We are spiritual beings in a human experience. Engaging in spiritual practice reminds us of our Divine nature. It lets us reconnect to our Higher Self, refreshes our intuitive senses, allows us to re-establish our perspective of being Creator of our lives.

However, I find that the traditions of formal spiritual practice can be limiting. Traditional practices such as yoga, meditation and so forth seem to think that we should devote ourselves to practicing daily and rigorously. The meditation technique I studied recommends two hours of meditation a day! Not only is this not realistic for me - I would think most of us don’t have two hours in the day to devote to meditation. With this kind of standard being set, I think most of us find it a little daunting to even get started!

Here’s my perspective: It doesn’t matter how much you do, or even what method you use to connect to your spiritual Self. You can take a yoga class, meditate, go for a nature walk, sit on a rock in Sedona, play an instrument, go to church or temple, engage in a creative hobby … whatever you need to do, when you need it most. And what you need can change from day to day, week to week, and month to month.

If you prefer to practice within a spiritually oriented tradition such as yoga, don’t think for a minute that you have to commit to going to class three times a week. Sure, that would be great, if you have the time and resources. But sometimes going to just one class, when you really need to connect with your Self, is all you need.

So I invite you to sample many, many different practices. My ways to reconnect to my Soul self have included everything from meditation, yoga, labyrinth walks, and sweat lodges to pottery, woodworking (my current favorite) and running. Of course, the most consistent “spiritual practice” I do lies in the work I do as an intuitive.

The most important thing is your intent to reconnect to your Soul Self. With that in mind, the world offers us so many ways to connect with our sense of Divinity. Choose whichever way serves you, right now. Choose what fits your life, your time constraints, your finances, and your interests. But choose something - on a regular basis!

Blessings,
Andrea
