Meditation Resource

For those of you who would like to learn how to meditate, and would like a truly life-changing experience, I have a great resource.
Visit www.dhamma.org for information on Vipassana meditation retreats. I personally went to the North Fork, CA retreat center and can highly recommend the experience. The retreats are ten days long and are FREE. Yup, really. And this organization will never, ever bother you again. You can go, learn, meditate, give a donation - or not - and be on your way without further obligation.
Of course, the course is intense. First of all, it’s silent. No verbal or non-verbal communication. Basically, you eat, sleep and meditate. You don’t bring books, music, journals, or anything. It truly is just you, alone with you, for ten days. Bring a good meditation pillow - you’ll be on it about ten hours a day. To some, this may sound like hell, but I cannot recommend this experience enough!
During those ten days, you learn a very systematic, very common-sense approach to meditation that’s been around for thousands of years. There is no religious component to this - it’s truly about learning to be the boss of your thoughts. There are teachers available to speak to should you have any questions. The environment is very lovingly supportive. Oh, and the food’s actually really good! Accommodations are simple but well-kept.
I can’t say enough about the benefits of this experience. I only went to one retreat, but it truly raised my level of consciousness for good. So, if you can commit to taking ten days out of your life and devote them to yourself, I wish you all the benefit of these retreats.
Check it out!
Blessings,
Andrea
