Blessings to all,

Andrea

There are two reasons we create change in our lives. One reason is to create a life we want. The other reason is to get away from the life we don’t want anymore. And those are two very different reasons!

When we make changes towards a life we want, we are acting as Creators. We have at least a general idea of what we desire, and now through our actions, we are opening up to allowing our desires to manifest themselves in our lives. But we began the process by deciding on what we wanted.

Sometimes, however, the life we’ve already created for ourselves isn’t so pleasant. Sometimes it can get downright painful. And so we create change and movement, not towards anything in particular, but merely away from where we are right now. But in this situation, we are not acting as Creator – we are reacting. This is a far less powerful position to be in. When we create change through reaction, we are letting external circumstances dictate our direction. Instead of going within, deciding what we want, and then moving towards it, we look outside of ourselves, see what we do not want, and move away from it as fast as we can!

When life gets painful, of course we want to move away from the pain. But even in our pain, we can gather the bits and pieces of ourselves, and focus on creating a desired outcome. We don’t have to fix everything right away, or find all the answers, or make all the decisions. For now, the desired outcome can be to simply be in a little less pain. But we can make a conscious choice about what that first step towards healing will be. What would the next available step looks like that would make us feel a little better? Perhaps it’s as small as taking a bubble bath, or going for a walk. Perhaps it’s a phone call to a friend. If we are in great pain and go inward and ask ourselves “what shall I do with my life?” we will invariably encounter confusion and turmoil. Those decisions are not available to us in that state. But we can decide on the next step that will create less pain in our life.
Once we have created just a little less pain, we can make another conscious decision. What next available step would create a situation in which there is even less pain? Perhaps that means taking a few days off. Perhaps it means investigating a possible new job, or organizing our finances. But after this step, we are even more resourceful, and now we can take yet another step. And after we do this a few times, our next desired outcome may become inner peace. Reaching that state may take three steps, or twenty … but we can create it, one step at a time.

Manifesting our desires doesn’t mean we have to have a grand master plan for the next ten years. Sometimes it means just making a decision around what we can do for ourselves that day. You are acting as conscious Creator, even if the decisions are small. Sometimes, small decisions are all we are capable of. That does not lessen their power, if they are made consciously. But many, many small, conscious decisions add up to big changes. One day, you realize that, one small decision at a time, you created the life you’ve always wanted.

Blessings,
Andrea

I was having a conversation with my massage therapist today (yes, lucky me, I was on the table) and he commented on how painfully out of touch with Spirit and the non-material plane most of our present-day civilization was.

I have to say, his comment made me feel truly blessed. I feel so blessed because all day, every day, I have the tremendous priviledge of interacting and serving people who have made their relationship with Spirit central to their lives. My clients are actively working hard on their spiritual growth and personal development. They are open-minded and ready to increase their self-knowledge and embrace their own Soul self. When I do my readings, I get to interact with such beautiful, glorious Souls – Souls that are evolving at a rapid pace!
So, I can assure you, many, many people are working for a closer relationship with Spirit. Sometimes it can seem that we are in isolation, because we’re the only ones in our office, or our mom’s club, or our tennis class who is oriented in this way. I am blessed in my line of work to see every day that there are lots of us spiritual seekers finding our way back home together. Even though it may not be on the news every night, Spirit is rising!

So, thank you all for being in my life and blessing me with this glorious and hopeful perspective!

Blessings in return,

Andrea

I really admire people who pick a spiritual practice and then go really, really deep. The people that practice yoga for twenty years, or who go back to the same meditation retreat every summer, or who study the kabbalah for fifteen years – these people impress me.
I am perfectly happy to admit, however, that I am not one of those people. I think few are. I currently meditate daily, but that’s just this month. For a long time, I didn’t meditate at all. But it works for me right now. It also works for me right now to do a half hour of yoga every day – I just can’t seem to fit a 90-minute class into my schedule. Next month – who knows?
I’ve dabbled in lots and lots of things – various energetic healing modalities, meditation techniques, and spiritual practices. Every once in a while, I’ve shaken my head at my own short attention span. Why couldn’t I just pick one thing and go deep into that one path?

Now that I’ve dabbled and sampled for quite some time, I realize that I did pick that one path. I picked my own, and I committed to it, and I’m going very, very deep! Who knew? All those modalities and techniques and practices are just tools. Pick just one, or sample from all of them – your committment is only to your own personal spiritual growth and evolution. Your committment should never be to the practice of yoga, or a meditation technique. They are tools, to be used and discarded as it serves you. And only you know what will serve you best.

So remember that as long as you are working on yourself – in whatever way serves you best – you are walking your path. Celebrate your commitment to your own evolution, not to the tools designed to assist and serve you!

Blessings,
Andrea

Immediately after writing my past article on karma, I learned about a wonderful tool that assists us in clearing this energetic residue – the Usnisa Vijaya Dharani. This Sanskrit prayer is said to “purify all evil paths,” releasing us from the karma of past lives. Here it is:

NAMO BHAGAVATE TRAILOKYA PRATIVISISTAYA BUDDHAYA BHAGAVATE. TADYATHA, OM, VISUDDHAYA-VISUDDHAYA, ASAMA-SAMA SAMANTAVABHASA- SPHARANA GATI GAHANA SVABHAVA VISUDDHE, ABHINSINCATU MAM. SUGATA VARA VACANA AMRTA ABHISEKAI MAHA MANTRA-PADAI. AHARA-AHARA AYUH SAM-DHARANI. SODHAYA-SODHAYA, GAGANA VISUDDHE. USNISA VIJAYA VISUDDHE. SAHASRA-RASMI, SAMCODITE, SARVA TATHAGATA AVALOKANI, SAT-PARAMITA, PARIPURANI, SARVA TATHAGATA MATI DASA-BHUMI, PRATI-STHITE, SARVA TATHAGATA HRDAYA ADHISTHANADHISTHITA MAHA-MUDRE. VAJRA KAYA, SAM-HATANA VISUDDHE. SARVAVARANA APAYA DURGATI, PARI-VISUDDHE, PRATI-NIVARTAYA AYUH SUDDHE. SAMAYA ADHISTHITE. MANI-MANI MAHA MANI. TATHATA BHUTAKOTI PARISUDDHE. VISPHUTA BUDDHI SUDDHE. JAYA-JAYA, VIJAYA-VIJAYA, SMARA-SMARA. SARVA BUDDHA ADHISTHITA SUDDHE. VAJRI VAJRAGARBHE, VAJRAM BHAVATU MAMA SARIRAM. SARVA SATTVANAM CA KAYA PARI VISUDDHE. SARVA GATI PARISUDDHE. SARVA TATHAGATA SINCA ME SAMASVASAYANTU. SARVA TATHAGATA SAMASVASA ADHISTHITE, BUDDHYA-BUDDHYA, VIBUDDHYA-VIBUDDHYA, BODHAYA-BODHAYA, VIBODHAYA-VIBODHAYA. SAMANTA PARISUDDHE. SARVA TATHAGATA HRDAYA ADHISTHANADHISTHITA MAHA-MUDRE SVAHA.

The use of this prayer is extremely effective if repeated seven times right before dawn. Give it a try! Don’t worry too much about getting the pronunciation “right” – the energy of the prayer will be activated regardless.

Just thought I’d pass on this tool to you!

Blessings,

Andrea
