I’m not at all a believer in sacrifice. Sacrificing ourselves for the sake of manifesting more money actually leads to more lack, not more abundance!
After all, making choices from the energy of sacrifice is sure to create circumstances that demand even more sacrifice! And before we know it, we’ve created circumstances that don’t serve us at all!
I am, however, a fan of substitution. In fact, substitution is essential to manifesting more money!
Unfortunately, it’s very easy to confuse substitution and sacrifice.
Sacrifice is when we give up who we truly are. We tell ourselves that, just for a short while, we’ll bite the bullet and do something that goes against our Divine nature. We tell ourselves that it’ll all be worth it in the end. Sure, we hate what we’re dong right now … but surely we can suck it up for the greater good … right?
Wrong! Sacrifice only creates more sacrifice. Sacrifice can’t create abundance – ever!
Substitution, on the other hand, is an integral part of manifesting money.
Let’s face it – we all have twenty-four hours in our day. And we’re doing something with those twenty-four hours right now. Granted, we may be sleeping, or watching television, or cooking dinner, or helping our children with homework. But we’re filling that time with SOME sort of activity.
Well, now we want to create new results.
It is only logical that we must substitute new actions for whatever we are currently doing with our time.
And since those actions are new, they are most likely not going to be comfortable.
Too often, we decide on an action plan, we get all excited, and follow through for a few days … and then what? Old habits take over. Doing what’s new is suddenly very, very hard. You don’t “have time” for your new actions – mainly because you’re still also trying to do what you were doing before.
Before you start on a new action plan, you have to ask yourself what OLD actions you are replacing.
Are you going to stop watching TV? Are you going to get up earlier in the day? Can your child do homework by himself? You’re currently filling your day somehow – what current activities are you going to replace with new ones?
The question can make us feel like we’re “giving up” or even “sacrificing” something in our lives.
We’re not. We’re substituting one action for another.
Through substitution, we are actually practicing the opposite of sacrifice. Because, let’s face it, we’re probably doing a whole bunch of stuff right now that isn’t truly a reflection of our Divinity. We’re probably engaged in a lot of activity that isn’t truly a representation of what we want, and who we truly are. Your bank account will tell you the truth.
It’s not sacrifice to replace the activities that don’t serve us. It’s not sacrifice when we stop doing what doesn’t create results, and start doing our Soul’s Purpose.
Your ego, of course, may whine and complain about the discomfort of it all.
But think about it – is it okay to sacrifice doing your Soul Purpose for the sake of watching your favorite TV show? Is it okay to deny your Divine self-expression for the sake of spending time with the in-laws you don’t like?
Here’s a tough one: Is it okay to sacrifice doing your Soul Purpose so that you can watch your child play soccer all day?
Your answer may actually be that – yes, watching your child play soccer all day IS more important than doing your Soul Purpose. And there’s nothing wrong with that answer. Just like there’s nothing wrong with deciding that your Soul Purpose is more important. It’s just a choice.
But you must realize that you don’t have to sacrifice to do your Soul Purpose and manifest more money – but you DO have to substitute.
The truth is that, if you’re not making all the money you want, if you’re not joyfully standing in your purposeful work … then you are ALREADY doing sacrifice. And most likely, you are going to attract more sacrifice. Until you choose to do something different – something that expresses your Divinity.
So … is it sacrifice to give up sacrifice?
Blessings,
Andrrea

Excellent article, Andrea!… Thank you for this insight about sacrifice… That we’re already sacrificing now if we’re not living in joy and abundance… And thinking in terms of substitution instead of sacrifice is also very helpful… Thanks!… Love, Aurelio.
Filling the day with new activities is no joke. But if you are in the middle of an activity you have truely grown to hate it’s alot easier than one you getting rid of the one you love. I opted to quit my soul-sucking, to low to make ends meet paying, health ruining job. Nobody aproved of my choice to start a website and do something I love (I wasn’t better off in anyway for having the job I didn’t love).
I think when I have heard people talk about growing up I’ve most heard them speak of scarifice. Scarifice yourself for your kids (no wonder I don’t want any), scarfice joy, and health for your money, scarfice who you are for who you should be. Something about that never sat right with me. But when I look at those people I see the people who don’t have alot in terms of money, love, or health. Why settle for that? It’s no wonder some kids go through a phase where they are determined never to go up. And as it turns out scarfice probably never should have sat right.
I like the definition of sacrifice and the results it creates. I like the concept of substitution actions. You’re right- we are busy all day and night doing something…..why not make it a conscious choice.
I love this idea of sacrifice verse substitution. It’s a beautiful and empowering shift to make while really harnessing our power of choice. Thank you Andrea!
Eye opener, Andrea. This message comes at the right time. I am on the verge of “coming out of hiding”… even though I thought I had already done that a few times before! What I find the hardest is that I feel like I’ve been secretly abusive to me and lying to other people, because I, yes, sacrificed and tried and tried to NOT look at the huge elephant in the room. And now, I have to scream that, oh, there’s the huge elephant in the room??
Huge difference between knowing who I am in Spirit, and physically being (becoming, doing, practicing) THAT.. I am facing embarrassment, shame, guilt, disappointment, etc, etc. This too shall pass.
