When it comes to manifesting money, I come across these acts of self-sabotage over and over again … so I thought I’d summarize in a handy what-not-to-do article to assist you in manifesting the money you want!
Here are the top ten mistakes I see people make when it comes to manifesting money:
1. Don’t be specific with your money intentions.
When I ask clients or students for their financial intention for the month, I surprisingly often get a reply that amounts to: “I’m not sure.”
How can we expect to manifest money we haven’t intended, haven’t asked for? Everything comes into being through our clear intention.
It’s not enough to reach for the next-highest vibration that makes us feel good. We have to name a dollar amount, within a time frame when we’re manifesting money. Remember to keep the intention at least on the edge of realistic for your current situation.
Intentions are not wishes. The Universe is not a fairy Godmother. You either step into your power as Creator, tell the Universe what you want, or not much gets created at all.
2. Ignore inspiration.
Once your money manifesting intentions are set and have been announced to the Universe, you will be inspired to take action. Sometimes, inspiration will seem to have absolutely nothing to do with your financial intention.
Follow it anyway.
Your Soul knows how to create the energetic state that will attract the income you want. Your Soul speaks to you via intuition and inspiration. Listen to it, even if it makes no sense. Your Soul knows what’s needed to manifest the money you want.
3. Expect flow.
Newsflash: Stepping into your Soul Purpose and Divine Gifts will scare the crap out of you … and will continue to do so every single time you step up a little more.
Your ego will put up massive amounts of resistance to doing your Purpose. It will tell you that THAT isn’t ACTUALLY your purpose all day long, keep you in procrastination, distraction, and self-doubt.
Don’t wait for fear and self-doubt to dissipate and to “feel” like taking action … because you will be waiting forever. Let yourself be in fear and self-doubt. If you’re not at least a little bit terrified, you’re not doing it right.
4. Let confusion keep you stuck.
Confusion is a great trick of the ego. If you’re stuck in a cloud of overwhelm because the options before you are endless, it’s probably because you’ve delayed taking action for too long.
Here’s the thing. If we ask for inspiration and guidance on manifesting money, we will receive it. We’ll get an idea, a path will open before us. If we choose not to take that path, but keep asking for inspiration and guidance … another idea, another path will appear. If we choose not to take that path either, but keep asking for inspiration and guidance … well. we’ll just keep finding more paths to take. The Universe is, after all, infinitely abundant.
Pick a path. Any path, even the “wrong” path, will move you closer to your goal than standing still. Stop asking for inspiration, make a decision, and MOVE. Do something.
5. Don’t do your Soul Purpose.
We do have at least some clue as to our Soul’s desire for self-expression in this lifetime. Our Soul speaks to us through our dreams, our vision, our desire for a life that is more expansive than what we are living now. We are attracted to the teachers and leaders and luminaries that most embody our own Soul’s gifts.
And yet, most people try to find a “practical” way to make money first … so that they THEN can go and do what’s in their hearts. It’s backwards, folks! The thing that’s in our hearts to do is also the path to money.
If you need details on your Soul Purpose, book a reading with me. I can get it sorted out and translated into an income stream for you in a little over an hour, so you can get on with it!
6. Don’t engage.
Ask yourself how many of your actions today were perceptible to others. Were you planning, researching, and studying all day? That’s nice. But money comes when we offer value to others. That means we have to touch other people’s lives. We have to make ourselves known, seen, read, heard. Make a joyful noise and let the world know that you exist! It’s the first step to offering someone a valuable transformation.
7. Don’t make an offer.
Of course, sometimes we make a joyful noise, people know we exist and love us … but they have absolutely no idea that we have anything of value that they can buy. Oops … we forgot, in the midst of all our networking and social media posting and blogging and podcasting, to actually sell our stuff.
Step one is definitely to let people know you exist. But the vital step two is letting people know that you have something of tremendous value that you would be happy to exchange for money. Make an offer. No-one can buy from you unless they know you’re selling something. And yes … you ARE selling something. Don’t apologize for it!
8. Don’t own your value.
Not sure what to charge? Do you charge different rates, depending on who you think you’re talking to? Or (my least favorite!) do you offer your services on a “sliding scale”?
Any version of this kind of pricing confusion says to the Universe that your value is negotiable. Most likely, you will attract people who don’t want to pay you, or want to negotiate your rates with you. If you’re not willing to own your value, no-one else will be willing to pay you what you’re worth … because YOU aren’t sure what you’re worth.
9. Try to spiritually bypass effort.
I know, you’re totally connected to the fifth dimension, where the grandest vision of your Divine self-expression is already fully formed. At the upper-dimensional levels of existence, energy moves with intention, and it moves instantly.
By contrast, energy movement here in this third dimension is hampered by physical density and linear time. Yes, everything here takes effort. You can’t meditate your way past it, you can’t use your intuition to transcend it, you can’t attract “effortlessly.” No matter how pretty your vision board, you still have to have a functioning website. Our intuition can show us the most efficient path. Our manifesting process can make that path smooth and easy and struggle-free. But we still have to walk the path.
Results are dependent on third-dimensional effort. Nothing creates results without action. Deal with it.
10. Vision-hopping.
Because our vision is so fully formed at the fifth-dimensional level, and because by contrast it takes so much effort to make that vision a third-dimensional reality, we often put in just a little effort. And then we lose interest. Let’s face it, our grand vision is about our purposeful work and transforming the planet. Our grand vision generally does not include learning how to put an autoresponder form on our website or how to write email subject lines that get a higher open rate.
Grounding our vision includes doing what is tedious, decidedly unsexy, mundane stuff like watching tutorial videos on how to install a WordPress theme. And we usually totally underestimate the amount of marketing activity we need to invest before we generate any revenue whatsoever.
And so we invest just a little effort and create NO results whatsoever.
What do we do next? We tell ourselves that THAT particular vision was obviously NOT aligned to our purpose, was not genuinely inspired by our inner wisdom … and find ourselves a new vision, one that is just as grand.
Again, we take a little action, create yet another website (how many have you started? Be honest!) … and if we’re not making a great income within two or three months, we once again go shopping for a new vision.
Revising your highest vision of yourself every two or three months is a way of ensuring that none of these visions will ever take root and become grounded into this third-dimensional reality.
Stick with your vision. Approach it in a new way if you’re not creating results … but commit to your desires. Only your commitment will attract the commitment of others.
To your infinite abundance,
Andrea

My vision has become WORK and is no longer play. This is a reoccurring problem for me…Taking the 2 marketing courses was so much reading and work – and doing the homework and now trying to integrate it into my site…I find myself in dread – this morning I did not even want to get out of bed…The fun and the flow…just disappeared.
I just drove myself through the newsletter program problems until I could find one that I could work and function….and it took me so long, I think that started zapping my energy.
Now I am wondering if I can do this?
Now at the start of this year, I am finding people will not network or let me share my work and blog…
And yet, I was honored by SILVER AND GRACE as a woman who makes a difference – that was encouraging…and kept me going…
I have signed up for a healing yoga class and got a deal at a gym…maybe I can get something moving…up the vibrations…
Also just got 5 more free books to review….working on upping the energy and increasing the fun?
“No matter how pretty your vision board, you still have to have a functioning website.”
LOVED that. How true. It is easy to fall into the trap of wanting the universe to do everything for us, but we do live in a world of form after all, and we live in form for a reason. It’s like that story of the guy who prays to god everyday to wind the lottery, and finally after years, the clouds part, and god says “buy a lottery ticket”.
Great article as usual. So excited for the DAMC, can’t wait to connect with you and others on the call. http://www.empoweredsoul.com/damc/
tell the truth how much of this stuff can you outsource ie if you stop to learn each step you will be 102 before you manifest anything except learning.how do we then know what is irrelavent and what is so in lign with whats doing my only conection is following along behind what everyone else is channeling and then getting to it and oh it has already been done so then if that is the case what is the point you may as well join a francise lose your individuality because we all semm to see the same thing and yeah is it any wonder one gives up . two thousand of you tell us we can do it in no time at all and then well as you say it is definitely not in no time it is in real time. I like to be where I am needed .look around and where is there a need for . I had thought that it was a two way street the teacher needed the student as the student needs the teacher .I am sick of being the student. thanks for the rant and love you blog. Ilona
And yet, most people try to find a “practical” way to make money first … so that they THEN can go and do what’s in their hearts. It’s backwards, folks! The thing that’s in our hearts to do is also the path to money…. hmmmm… now I am really confused! I’ve done it backwards, gave up my successful business for my purpose and now find myself in an all time financial struggle. And am now considering, reactivating my former business or getting a job, to at least be able to pay my bills and build the business on the sidelines. At least that was my intention when I got up this morning. Up to today I had firmly said, that I would not do that, because of course that is not where my heart is.
Looks like there is something here I don’t understand? Any clarification is greatly appreciated Andrea. Thank you for your time and wisdom.
Hi Andrea, thanks for the post. I think it also applies to other things in life, such as relationships. Illuminating and inspiring indeed.
Hi Andrea,
I managed to avoid my soul’s purpose for all but the last 4 years or so and definitely put up a fight to the end. Now, I look back and wonder why I made it so hard on myself-mostly fear, I guess. It is so much better going with the grain of who you really are. Yes, there are still challenges and fears, but they are for the right goals.
Great reminder. I have to stop myself from changing horses midstream. I have to keep reminding myself, and clarifying what I have to offer. It is hard to be patient and not jump to something new.
It takes time to digest and really understand just who I am, which brings more clarity to my purpose.
Thanks for all your reminders.
Ouch, I’ve got self-sabatoge written all over me. It’s not easy to be set the clear intention (the amount always feels both to big to beleive and to small to small to be worth it no matter what it is), so I finnally thought maybe I could set and inention for a minimum, and did that last night (and tried to keep the number out of my head since) I hope that’s at least a step in the right direction. After all the universe is free to give me more than I really asked for.
I prefer to use what I call set and forget tools. Put your vision board up once and even if you never give it a second consious thought your subconious mind still gets a message from it. Same is true with music full of mind control. I like some music when I am working, why not sneak a message into my subconious while I am at it (or while I am sleeping). Mulit-tasking has gotten very natural to me.
I don’t know if I am someone who vision hops or just has alot of really big dreams. What I do know, is that I think about my vision for my life every day (and get around to each aspect at least once every week). But while some of it has expanded, and I traded up some parts of my vision. But the themes, and the fact that I am taking some action toward them (even if some of my actions are slow and delayed) have all remained largely the same, the last real change was wanting to own my own business rather than pursue conventional employment (but wanting to do something I love was there from the start).
