When we increase our income and manifest more money into our lives, we are going to go through discomfort. It’s inevitable. Growth and expansion won’t happen if we just keep doing what we’ve always done. But taking new action means heading into the unknown.
The actions we currently take, every day, have “known” consequences. They may not be the greatest consequences! In fact, what we are currently doing to create money may be creating rather crappy financial consequences! But at least we know what those consequences are … and the ego likes that.
Staying in the known is considered “safe” by the ego. But now we get ready to step out of our comfort zone and create more money. Now all kinds of alarm bells and red alert signals go off within the ego, and we experience a storm of fear and self-doubt. We procrastinate, we allow ourselves to be distracted. We often find fifteen things to do that are more important and more pressing than the new actions that might actually create more money for us.
This IS going to happen. If you want to create more money, there is no way around egoic discomfort and resistance. I wish I had a magical antidote to egoic resistance … quite frankly, I’d like one myself! Because no matter where you are financially, egoic resistance happens at every level.
In our spiritual community, we unfortunately have a tendency to view any negative emotion such as fear and self-doubt as if there’s something “wrong.”
After all, feeling fear isn’t very “spiritual.” Shouldn’t we be “more enlightened” than that? Shouldn’t we evolve beyond fear?
Not accepting fear as a normal part of expansion actually makes our situation worse. After all, we have in our spiritual tool box all kinds of ways to make ourselves feel better, right? Maybe we use some energetic technique to “clear” our fear. Or we use EFT and try to tap it away. Or we meditate until we feel better.
And it works! Now we feel better! But what have we done? We’ve focused on feeling better. That’s where we’ve invested our energy. The fear is gone … but have we taken productive action towards our financial goal? Most likely, no.
Now that we feel better, we decide we’re ready to try again to create our new financial reality … and guess what? Again the fear comes, and again we use our spiritual tool box to make ourselves feel better. And again, we don’t take productive action. We tell ourselves we’ll take action … once we feel better. I’ve seen people stuck in this loop for years!
New results are not going to happen without new action. New action WILL create a fear storm and a ton of egoic resistance. There is NO spiritual bypass for this aspect of growth and expansion!
The key is to move THROUGH egoic resistance. There are two things that can help us accomplish this.
The first is this: Imagine that it’s ten years from now, and your financial situation is exactly the same as it is today. Just imagine – now you’re forty or fifty or sixty or seventy years old. And your bank account is the same. Now, if that doesn’t scare you MORE than taking new action .. well, then you don’t want to change your financial reality that badly. And that’s okay. I suggest you acknowledge that you are willing to stay where you are, and enjoy yourself. It’ll save you a lot of time and energy!
Most of us, however, are committed to our spiritual and personal growth … and an expanding bank account is merely a third-dimensional manifestation of that growth. The idea that we could plateau on our path, that there’s a limit to how much of our Divinity we might express, is pretty darn scary!
The other thing that truly helps is having a complete and thorough intellectual understanding of the manifesting process. If I know HOW manifesting works – as a technique, a specific, exact process that contains no guesswork – then I am far more willing to accept the emotional and mental turbulence that happens when we step into greater financial expansion.
There’s no spiritual bypass for the discomfort of egoic resistance. I wish I could give you one, but … it doesn’t exist. But you can give yourself the gift of knowing how the process works. Consciousness and free will can always override fear. The more you know about the technical aspects of manifesting money, the easier dealing with discomfort becomes.

I love Divine Timing! Your article showed up just when I needed to hear it. I just signed up for a large commitment and felt so great about it as I know it will help grow my business. I woke up yesterday and felt like I had been hit by a ton of bricks. Your term “fear storm” is exactly what I experienced.
It is reassuring to know that I can get through it. The thought of being at the same bank account level in ten years is indeed motivating.
Great information. It reminds me of an earlier post you did when you said you can have a pretty dream board but you still need a functioning website! I’m sometimes asked what it takes to make your successful creative business work and I tell people you have to be willing to put in the hours that aren’t so glamorous, like building websites, emails, videos, trade shows, techie stuff that’s boring or hard work but necessary. Even with all that it still takes time but it does work. I’m still a fan of tapping, it can create and remove road blocks, but I like to finish the EFT session with “and NOW I am ready to take guided action that results in significant profit for my business.” You are so right Andrea, it’s the key to financial abundance. It’s all about guided action, action, action.
I am definitely in a fire storm…but I keep walking forward into very scary territory – I often wish I was not alone at these moments too – wow it would be fun to have a partner in these ventures.
I find that the fire storm is huge technical problems…so here I am working off paying the medical bills down and being financially independent and feeling secure…and the computer crashes, then the email program corrupts, then the phone service goes out, then I am working from my smart phone for a month because the cable company problems and the huge ice and snow storm and no power…
I am pretty good at making lemonade…but this is rather telling me that maybe this is not the direction I should be going?
So now I am borrowing more money from my daughter to purchase an uncorrupted email program after she has worked a month to rebuild the system…
Maybe I am miss interpreting this, but I keep trying to learn new things and implement them and actively confront the fears…but this is frustrating..
I don’t think I am reading it correctly?
Spritual tools have come in handy to erase self sabatoge behaviors, and change my general vibration toward something healthier in the long term. But there’s long term unhealthy energetic patterns and then there’s pre milestone jitters.
Of course for me the uncomfortable part of dealing evolving in the long run is never actaully taking the action it’s what drives me to take the action. I wasn’t driven to start my business until I was forced to realize that was the only way I was going to make ends meet in the forseeable future was to start a secessful business. I quit a job I had grown to hate because it was litterailly and figuritivly a pain in the butt on top of being a dead end. Did I have second thoughts about quiting that job, yes. Was I shaking for no apparent reason when I launched my website, you bet. But what I never had was a rational reason to be scared, maybe because I was more fearful of the alternitives already.
