Here’s a great way NOT to manifest money: Allow money to be the boss of you!
There are two (pretty pervasive!) ways in which we allow money to run our lives:
The first is that we make our choices based on how much money we have (or don’t have!). “Living within our means” or “living on a budget” is upheld as a sensible choice in our society. But it often means that we shrink our world, our dreams, and our authentic self-expression to fit our finances.
I once overheard a mom in my daughter’s Girl Scout troop complaining how she couldn’t take a class because of her limited income. My immediate thought was: “Why don’t you just increase your income?” The mom in question looked at me like I had two heads! The idea of taking charge and simply increasing her income had never occurred to her.
Creating an additional income stream is not hard these days. There are a million small ways we can make money outside of our “steady” paychecks. But we’ve been conditioned to accept the limitations of our income and arrange our lives based on the money we have … rather than increasing our financial abundance so that we can make the choices we WANT.
The flip side of this pattern is very different, but equally non-abundant.
We allow money to be our boss by making choices based purely around wanting to manifest money, or needing to make money. This pattern has given rise to the concepts of having to work “hard” and “sacrificing” for the sake of financial gain.
We do what we “have to” do in order to make income, right? Even if we don’t like our jobs, don’t like what we think we “have to “ do in our business … hey, it’s all just part of what HAS to be done for our paycheck. We gotta do what we gotta do to bring home the bacon, right?
This side of allowing money to be in charge of our lives is, perhaps, even more pervasive than the first. Because, after all, we can tell ourselves we’re just being sensible, that we’re doing all the “right” things in order to be financially responsible. We tell ourselves that this is the way of the world – that everybody does things that they don’t really want to do in order to make money.
But in reality, this is STILL allowing money to determine our choices.
Even if we get paid … this is not living in abundance. Any choice we make out of obligation, or perceived necessity, cannot ever create true abundance.
What’s the solution?
We have to understand that money is simply a natural consequence that occurs when we put our Soul-level Gifts into the world in a way that adds value to other people’s lives. Our Gifts are our natural, inherent abundance. Money is what happens when you express your Soul’s Divine nature into this physical dimension in tangible, practical ways, through action. YES, we have to set up some structures through which we can exchange our value for money. But our choices to do so are made based on our desire for authentic Divine self-expression, NOT on money. Money is just the inevitable consequence.
If money were NOT an issue … how would you want to add value to the lives of others? What would you want to do all day long? (Keep in mind that sitting on a beach all day, cocktail in hand, does get boring eventually! Although if that lifestyle were truly your Soul’s most authentic self-expression, there would still probably a way to monetize it …)
Ask yourself what choices you truly would WANT to make, if money were a non-issue. Start aligning your life to THOSE choices, as much as you can. Chances are, you will attract more financial abundance!
If your choice are made by your money – the money you have or the money you want – then money will always be in charge of you, regardless of how much of it you make. Abundance will remain elusive.
Step into Divine Creatorship. Money is a mere consequence, nothing more. It is a by-product, a natural result of choices that reflect your Divine Gifts and Soul Purpose. Money is a fantastic and desirable consequence. In fact, money showing up (or not!) can teach us so much about the abundance-level of our choices.
But let’s not put money ahead of self-determination, because that is not the path to financial abundance. Allowing money to be your master – in EITHER of these ways! – is a great way to create only lack.
To your Divine self-expression and infinite abundance,
Andrea

Andrea, I am so very grateful for your words. First, for helping me come to an even deeper understanding of where I may be able to watch my thoughts and beliefs, thereby allowing even more prosperity to flow; second, in confirming for me to keep following my heart’s desire. I soak up everything you write
Thank you SO much, Sue!!! I really appreciate it!
WHOA!!! I do ALL of these things! No wonder I’m broke. I both deprive myself of what I really want/how I want to live just to save a couple bucks AND I force myself to do jobs just for the money. Funny thing is, I end up scrimping and scraping either way, and I know other people who- despite their meticulous frugality- are STILL rolling pennies and surviving on Ramen. This isn’t living people!! This article was a revelation for me and even made me laugh out loud (i.e. made me say to myself “so THAT’s why money is such an issue for me”). Well, no more. I don’t know exactly how, but answering the question “If money were NOT an issue … how would you want to add value to the lives of others?/What choices would you truly want to make?” sparked tons of inspired visions within me. I can’t wait to turn things around now!
BK, I’m SO glad this article served you! The question of what we really WANT, if money were a non-issue is a really powerful one! I ask myself that all the time.
Money can empower us tremendously, but we can also disempower ourselves through it … it’s all our choice!
Hi Andrea,
I have been following your work for around 2 years now and in such a short space of time you have taught me so much around manifesting money. When I shifted into a place of Soul, expressing my soul gifts in all I do I now truly feel like I’m in the driver’s seat of my own life. It is so empowering, thank you, thank you, thank you,
Have a great day!
Eleanor
Thank you SO much, Eleanor! I’m so happy I can be of service!!!
Hi Andrea! Love all your articles. Soul Realignment (and your absolutely terrific and right-on advice!) has really helped me to unblock manifesting money into my life (boy did I have a lot going on there!). However now I make money doing something I don’t really like (although every day I’m always SO grateful for that, I never forget those awful times when I wasn’t making money doing ANYTHING!), and the reason is because I STILL have this so awful issue with self-esteem. I just always feel like I’m SOOOO horrible at doing what I love to do that NO ONE would ever ever ever want to pay me to do it!! And that, of course, keeps people from ever wanting to pay me to do what I love to do!
Serena, the thing is that you won’t believe in your abilities until YOU take the first step and allow others to value your gifts through money. Do that, in spite of fear and self-doubt. Because only the EXPERIENCE of providing value to others through your gifts is going to give you the confidence you seek. If you seek confidence BEFORE experience, you’ll find yourself putting it off forever! Jump in!
Wow!… I LOVE this post, Andrea!… It really speaks to me!… It just hit home how money is often the boss of my live… and I make choices on how much or how little I have…
Thank you for this article!… It has inspired me to live more from my soul’s purpose… and allow the money to be a natural consequence of that!…. Love, Aurelio.
Yay, Aurelio!!! Congrats on a new level of empowerment and creatorship!!! And the funny thing is that when we allow money to be a consequence, we usually attract more of it!
We limit ourselves often without knowing we are doing it. I love the idea of expanding the possibilities in our own world. Great blog post.
Thank you, Nancy!!
Isn’t the Universe just wonderful about supplying pertinent information at the right time?!?
Elaine – infinite abundance, right?
Thank you Andrea! You are SO right!! You can imagine it’s just that I’m so scared. What if everyone hates me and says I’m awful? (You know the usual thing that happens to everyone.
)
Eleonor, I agree with you SO much!
@seramadis – remember, the gifts you have to share and to add value to others are gifts of and from Spirit. It’s win/win!
Well put Andrea. You’ve explained a very complex topic in simple, straight-forward terms. My money is not the boss of me!
Thanks for the inspiration to keep choosing based on gifts and purpose. Life is good, how could we think otherwise with all of this wonderful automatic feedback?
I just discovered another way of resisting that I use. “I have to do it all by myself” and even if I ask for help, I still have to figure out how to do it “my way” rather than do it someone else’s way. Of course, that is just another type of procrastination and pushes actions away from me besides it takes alot longer than simply following the directions.
I also got in touch with is if “it’s too difficult” (my perception, I know) or “I can’t see how to get there from here”, then I’m afraid to get started or I jump in without proper preparation, fall on my face and then confirm “it must not be mine to do”.
So glad to be getting this awareness up front where I can disengage it consciously and truly move into my calling more effectively.
Thanks for this ongoing dialogue!
Nancy
Great lesson in words here…wow I am similar to Nancy in her comment today. I feel like I need to just trust myself and do it all myself to get it done so it works for me, but then the technical is so difficult that that resistance comes crashing back.
I am going to make more than enough funds for a hairdo this month and not sacrifice how good it feels to be taken care of and feel like I look good. Next month I will add to that amount enough or more than I need for an eye exam…
I have taken this week off from learning how to google phone and video chat or get on chat or how to tell people to connect with me on chat. One week on and one week off this work…I have asked for help but no one is running to my aid…set it aside and the frustration…I will get there…
I need to drive myself…
Great piece Andrea! Truly value-adding.
I loved the distinction of money being nothing but a consequence. Very cool! Something I am coming to terms with myself in a big way and love to see out there. So very true!
Cheers!
Thank you, Travis! Money is indeed just the inevitable outcome when we add value to the lives of others through our Divine Gifts!
Here’s another reframe I learned that was helpful to me. Instead of holding the thought: “It’s better to give than receive” or “As I give so will I receive”. Try on “I have received therefore I gratefully give.” It really shifted the inner vibe for me and the flow increased as I say this to myself everytime I circulate money or my services. I’d be curious if others notice it.
