Are you investing in yourself?
The question came to me because I hear from an awful lot of people who tell me: “Andrea, I really, really want your Money Manifesting Mastery program. But I just can’t afford it right now.â€
It breaks my heart, for a few different reasons.
The first is that “I can’t afford it†is simply not true most of the time Sure, the investment may not be comfortable, or easy. I understand these people don’t have extra money lying around. But “I can’t†is often a disempowering overstatement that has become our knee-jerk reaction to spending outside of our comfort zone. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Given enough desire, most people can find the money, even if it’s on a credit card, even if it means tightening up the household budget, taking out a loan, and doing away with the Starbucks lattes for a while. So what we’re really saying is “I choose not to invest in myself right now.â€
And that’s the real heartbreak. Most people will not go out on a limb, not trust themselves enough, not love themselves and their lives enough, to invest in themselves. If we truly want something, we believe it might help us, and we still don’t invest – well, what we’re really saying is that we don’t think we’re worth the investment. We’re not worth the risk.
Here’s the problem. If we are not investing in ourselves, can we expect anyone else to invest in themselves through us, by hiring us, becoming our client, or buying our stuff? If we don’t even think ourselves worth our investment, how can we possibly attract others who see our value and invest their money in what we offer?
I invest between 20% and 50% of my income back into my business each and every month. Sometimes these investments are really uncomfortable decisions to make. Even back in my starving graduate student days, I invested half a year’s income (which I “couldn’t affordâ€) into my massage therapy education … because I trusted myself to create a huge return on that investment. Over time, every single uncomfortable investment I’ve made in myself and my business has been well worth … especially when I “couldn’t afford†the investments I made, especially when I felt like I was going out on a giant limb for myself.
It seems counter-intuitive, but the less money we have, the more important it is to invest in ourselves. So find a resource that you think will improve your situation, and know that you are worth it. The Universe will never argue with your beliefs, will never prove you wrong. Your worth will improve as soon as you declare yourself worthy … by investing in your greatest asset: YOU!

This is absolutely true, Andrea. I think I would add that people would invest in themselves more readily if they thought that the return on investment would come quicker, too!
For myself, I invested in your Soul Realignment course (as an investment in myself and my future) when I could least afford to and it was very uncomfortable. But I listened to my intuition – and it has paid back dividends in ALL areas of my life – not just money and business!
Blessings,
Keena
Keena – Love your example! It’s so true that an investment in one area of our lives pays off big across the board!
This a great reminder for all of us Andrea, thank you! So true. And I know I am often guilty in “I can’t afford this right now” attitude, but I am getting better. We truly can afford anything we allow ourselves to afford and the Universe does respond to faith.
Lana – You know, I think we really do default to the “I can’t afford it” reaction unless we consciously decide to consider investments differently! I’ve been at a few events where 25K and higher offers are made, and I’m actually now at the point where I seriously consider these investments. It’s a gradual shift … I’m still working on it, too!
I absolutely agree with you. It seems once I decided I and my business were worth more investment, more money showed up to invest.
I wonder how successful people who see themselves as unable to make an investment ~ no matter how large or small ~ in their business or themselves will ever be. It seems to me that something happens, in our minds and in the Universe when we decide we are worthy of investment. That something just doesn’t click until you make that decision ~ and it is a decision.
I just found your blog today. I look forward to reading more!
Jackie – I agree with you that successful people do seem to make these investments! It truly is magical when we decide on our greater self-worth!
As I see from your picture (and sometimes I think is why I am pretty skeptic of what I read) you do invest in yourself, especially in surgery.
Now, why would someone who’s on such a higher state of mind, be that much into her appearance?
Chandler – I THINK I’m almost flattered, LOL. I do think self-care is important … no surgery here, though!
Andrea, to me this topic illustrates a glass “half-full” or “half-empty” perspective. Whatever one sees will be true for them. For those who decide they can’t afford something that they believe will expand their life, it would be an interesting check-in to see how this belief manifests elsewhere in their life. Sounds like a vibrational shift is called for! Some feel-good energy might allow for a more creative, expanded perspective and greater possibilities!
I continue to be inspired and motivated by your insights and wisdom. Thank you Andrea for your gentle reminder that we are worthy and that we deserve to invest in our own needs.
Warmly, Joyce
Chandler, I am curious to know why you feel that someone who is on a higher state of mind shouldn’t be concerned with their appearance? Is that a judgment? Instead of looking for outward signs as to whether what you read is true or not look within yourself – trust your own intuitive ability.
Andrea,
thank you so much for your words of wisdom. I am at a very difficult stage of my life right now but have to believe in the half full glass.
I am now a fan and will tell all my friends of your blog.
Much love.
