What kind of relationship do you have with your Soul purpose?
Imagine your Soul purpose as a person for a moment. Have you met, gotten to know each other? Maybe it’s a mere acquaintanceship – you know your purpose exists, but haven’t really taken the time to get to know it very well. Maybe your Soul purpose has called and left messages a few times, but you haven’t taken the time to return the call.
Maybe your relationship is like a brand-new romance – you are head-over-heels, full of passion for your new-found Soul purpose. You wait for it to call. Everything is new and exciting, and full of possibility. You are swooning with the uniqueness and sanctity of your purpose.
Maybe you’re in a committed relationship with your Soul purpose. You’ve been seeing each other for a while and you know it well. You are familiar and intimate. Maybe your Soul purpose even has a key to your place, and it’s very own drawer in your closet!
Or maybe you and your Soul purpose are like an old married couple – deeply intertwined, familiar and comfortable with each other, unquestionably committed and present in every aspect of life.
Now ask yourself: If you wanted to take your relationship to the next level … what would that be?
Maybe it’s asking your Soul purpose out on a date, and getting to know each other a bit. Perhaps it’s time for your Soul purpose to fully move into your life, to let go of the last bit of separation between you. Maybe there are a few areas of your life that you’ve not allowed your Soul purpose into. Or maybe it’s even time to re-ignite the spark of passion and excitement for your Soul purpose.
What would it be like, to invite your Soul purpose into a deeper, more meaningful relationship with you? What would it look like, to commit to your purpose at a new level, to move into new aspects of your life? What door of your life has your Soul purpose been knocking on?
Perhaps the greatest question of all is – are you willing to embrace this relationship?
I’d love to hear your comments!
Blessings,

Very well put! I love the discriptive use of language — it makes me want to re-evaluate my relationship and work on it a bit more!
Jessica – Thank you!!! I think re-evaluating our relationships (with other people, our purpose, our money, etc.) is one of the most powerful things we can do to move ourselves forward! I’m sure it’ll be very powerful for you!
I’m madly in love with my soul purpose… I just don’t know it very well yet! So I guess the relationship is… a passionate online long-distance relationship?
Rose – Love it! I guess it’s time to have more face-to-face time with your purpose, then!!!
Andrea, dear…
(Sigh..!) I have an issue with understanding what this dude wants. Everytime I ask him whether he likes what I am doing, he just folds his arms across his chest, fixes me a baleful eye and rumbles, “What do YOU think?”
I honestly have no idea what to think, anymore.
Yeah, he has been around a long time, so he knows exactly when I am ignoring him, and when I turn around to pay him some attention…. This I have to acknowledge, he never, ever tells me, “I told you so!”
Still….

Mohini
Ahhh, Mohini – Love this comment. Because, in the end, our life purpose is not here to give us it’s opinion. After all it’s not a job description or a cosmic “to-do” list. It’s what we are here to BE. So your purpose asking you “What do YOU think?” and never, ever standing in judgment of you means you are in PERFECT communication with each other – congrats!!!
Thanks for the awesome comment!!!!
Well, I would 1st like to meet my soul purpose, or at least get an idea of hot meet him/her. Any ideas that might help?
Esteban – Look at what you do effortlessly well, your natural strengths. Sometimes it’s hard for us to see our own strengths … a nice exercise is to ask your five or six closest friends what THEY think your greatest strengths are! Start there …
I love this post Andrea – chuckled all the way through it!
My soul purpose and I are an old married couple, I guess… Perhaps I even take her for granted! :-O
Time to reignite the passion – just in time for Valentine’s day. LOL!
Blessings,
Keena
Keena – how wonderful for you! Maybe you can have a romantic evening with your Soul’s purpose, or take her out on the town
Never thought about it in this way! But I am skipping hand in hand with my Soul Purpose, like a best frind. But I want us to move into a deeper, more loving, constantly nurturing state of Trust, with a capital T.
Hello Andrea,
Thanks for the explanation. I hope it will help.
Thanks,
I love the metaphor of a relationship with our soul purpose; I am just getting to know mine, like long lost twins of some kind and I am anxious to get to know my soul purpose more.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!
I once heard SOUL stand for ‘Spirit Of Unconditional Love’ and what a beautiful representation of it. I love the idea of soul purpose and inviting it into your life in those many different ways! Beautiful post Andrea!
I love your work!
