With my obvious new focus on manifesting money, I’ve received the expected share of emails from readers who are obviously firmly in the “money is un-spiritual†camp. No doubt the warnings that I was going down the “wrong†path and that “money won’t buy my ticket to ascension†were well-meant.
I’ll be honest with you. Openly and obviously turning the focus of my work on teaching about manifesting money has been nerve-wracking. I’m a woo-woo, yoga-practicing, sit- -and-meditate kind of girl at heart. The idea of being perceived as “in it just for money†or even remotely “un-spiritual†really pushed my buttons. At the same time, absolutely nothing – no spiritual practice, no meditation techniques, no healing modality – has evolved my consciousness as much as diving into deliberately manifesting money.
The false concept that money isn’t spiritual, that there is something “wrong†with money, is deeply ingrained in collective consciousness. We’re all affected by it to some degree or another, whether we care to admit it or not. I know how difficult it was for me as a spiritual teacher to come out of the “money closet.â€Â I had to nudge myself there, teaching lots of classes on “abundance†and “conscious business†before I embraced “manifesting money.â€
I think we all want a healthy bank account. We know that we lead happier, healthier lives without constant worries and stress about money. We want our children to grow up with abundance consciousness. At the same time, there are deep undercurrents in our collective consciousness that say money is bad, evil, dirty, not to be coveted.
This is the essence of the conflict around manifesting money: We want it, and at the same time feel that this is wrong. It’s a great set-up for disempowerment.
When we begin to truly engage with money, this conflict gets triggered and comes to Light. That can initially be so uncomfortable that we disengage once more, surrender to our financial situation, blame the economy, the job market, our education …
But if we dare stay engaged with money, beautiful things begin to happen.
1. We bring self-awareness, consciousness and intention to the most mundane stuff of our physical existence. Our spirituality becomes grounded because it shifts from abstract theory to the practical, tangible reality of our bank account.
2. In manifesting money, we are confronted with every aspect of our self-worth. We come face to face with what we value within ourselves, our contribution to the world, and in others.
3. We mine the depths of our Divine gifts … because that’s the only place abundance can truly come from. And by expressing our unique gifts into the world, they are augmented within ourselves. We step further and further into our potential, to discover that we are, in fact, unlimited.
Oh, and one other benefit to manifesting money: Actual money!
Are you hiding in your own “money closet?â€Â What fears are keeping you in there?
Blessings,
Andrea

Dearest Andrea…
May I take this opportunity to reach out from across the time and space that separate us and extend to you a firm hand of greeting and warm wishes.
Your statement above about most of us wanting a healthy bank account…but at the same time, some may have a conscious or unconscious train of thought about wanting more money being in some way bad…is so right on.
Its that contradiction within some…that may be keeping them from taking action on a dream or aspiration that might make them wealthy. And that’s way too bad…I for one applaud your efforts in helping to educate us and to showing us the path that could lead us to more financial freedom.
In our society money is is the engine that makes everything else move…right, wrong, or indifferent…that’s the way it is. The Ether of the Universe…which is spiritual in it’s existence…allows for us to tap into specific Universal Laws (like the Law of Attraction), so we all can have access to abundance on many levels of our lives.
Money…can be looked upon as a tool we all use to help us in our day-to-day activities. And a spiritually based, well thought out plan…and taking action on that plan…can yield us money, security, and yes…happiness.
Your recent activities…information…and guidance which I know is spiritually based, can help many of us to have access to this tool called money to help our lives move forward.
So please Dear Andrea…know that you are being guided by the love and essence of a loving Universal Presence…and a spiritual presence…and what you are doing is wonderful…and will help many souls to achieve their financial dreams, hopes, wants and needs.
Thank You for You…Continued Success…and May All the Good Things of the Universe Continue to Come to You Under Grace and in Perfect Ways.
Respectfully,
Dr. Dan Bartlett Msc.D.

Andrea,
I well understand both your reluctance to move into the money aspect of things and your desire to accept that aspect of things. The truth is that money is necessary to survive, and more-so to thrive. The idea that we are to live in subsistence mode if we desire to be spiritual is false.
However, there is a fine line to be walked. Money is NOT spiritual. It is mundane, a necessary part of life in this world. A skillful person such as yourself can mine spiritual lessons from the manifesting of material abundance, which is good. But the danger lies in a matter of emphasis, which things are more important in the mind. In my view, which I admit is somewhat biased, spirituality must always come first. “Seek first the kingdom of heaven…”. We do what we must to thrive in this world, but always from the perspective of passing through this world.
There is a saying of Jesus recorded in an obscure manuscript, saying, “The world is a bridge, pass over it, do not build a house on it.”
Maybe by showing how to thrive in the world without enslaving the mind to the things of the world you can be of service to your readers.
Andrea, I so respect your willingness to talk about money and to allow yourself to charge and receive payment that is commensurate with the value you provide for your clients. You are one of my spiritual business role models and I no longer subscribe to the belief that being in lack is spiritual. I believe in wholeness and not in nurturing the wounding of others. I lived my own victim story long enough and I am so grateful to be able to move past my perceived limitations that were true so long as I believed them to be. What a blessing that we can heal and grow and thrive on every level – including having $$ and living well. I salute you for your fearlessness and the model you are for spiritual types who are open to living abundant lives on all levels.
I love your posts! I agree, we all have those fears. Couldn’t agree more, these are great suggestions. As a single parent that was *less* than good with money throughout my youth, teaching children about money is CRUCIAL, in my mind.
Hey Andrea, I have to admit that your site triggers my unconscious prejudices – I think some part of me is annoyed at you for being a spiritual entrepreneur. I’m just a normal person in that respect then I guess
But I also want to be a spiritual entrepreneur – I tried living on the street but I didn’t really feel like I was solving anything! (I NEVER do things by half measures – if money’s good, I’ll find the way to make a lot of it. If money’s bad, I will find a way to live without it entirely. By looking at the two extremes, I think I saw the absurdity of my way of dealing with money).
So I guess that’s why I’m here – to work on these prejudices and find a purer way of looking at money. Write on, I’ll be reading!
Lots of love
Andrew
I don’t understand this separation between “spiritual” and “mundane”. Everything is spiritual! Everything is energy when we have a close look at it. So how do you decide what’s more spiritual than something else?
Even brushing our teeth is spiritual. I recently went from brushing my teeth in a dark red, heavy, strong, directed way, to brushing my teeth in a golden-orange, light, playful, dynamic way, to better fit my newest intention. That is spiritual. Also, the intention behind brushing your teeth can be based on love (self-care, self-worth) or it can be based on fear (“Oh my God I’ll get caries if I don’t!”). That is a totally spiritual matter.
I’d even say that especially the “mundane” things are spiritual. It’s easy to sit around saying affirmations, meditating and talking to spirits. But paying attention to the energy you embody when you brush your teeth, that’s another level of spiritual awareness.
I personally have noticed that I struggle with the third dimension: my body, money, daily life actions… Even when all my thoughts, feelings and intentions were sitting well, I noticed that in my third dimensional life I wasn’t aligned with them. I noticed this only when I started to work on making money though, so I definitely see making money as a way of evolving spiritually.
In my eyes, a lack of money is a sign that there is a misalignment somewhere, with Abundance, with Love, with our soul’s true purpose… We can address it and grow spiritually (and make money as a side-effect), or we can claim that money isn’t spiritual anyway and keep our misalignments. If you ask me, that’s not a very spiritual thing to do, though. :þ
Love,
Rose.
There are many concepts of the word “spiritual” these days, so let me clarify my meaning: Though there are many layers of existence, there are three common broad subdivisions:
Body, mind, and spirit. Body is the world of matter and subtle energies (prana). Mind extends from sensory experience to the mental processing of that data, to the intellectual working with the same. Spirit is that level which is beyond matter and energy…in other words, consciousness, the rarified world beyond causation.
I realize in today’s world that spiritual can mean any thing from working with subtle energies (body in the above manner of thought) to thought work, psychic exploration and intuition (which I would classify as mind). In times past, spiritual did not have such a broad range of meanings. I hope this explains my thought more clearly. No offense intended to those who hold other definitions.
We have to remember that the laws of the universal include abundance for all and that abundance does not exclude money.
We all have the right to share in the laws of abundance.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this subject.
Shirley
Dan and Lisa – thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement, it’s SO appreciated!
ReddyK – You know I love you, but I think you’re in the minority on this one! I happen to think that any perception of separation between the spiritual and physical plane is the very root of just about every problem in this world! All is One, no? How can we know ourselves as Divine and part of all of Creation if we hold the physical world as separate? Aren’t we here to transcend the illusion of separation?
Teach Kids – SO true. I have a four-year-old, and I know that she will pick up a lot of her money-consciousness from observing my relationship with money.
Andrew – I applaud your authenticity! And you just beautifully encapsulated a version of what I was talking about! You’re annoyed that I’m a spiritual entrepreneur and you want to BE one … just like we want money and we don’t want to want it! Hey, the first step to overcoming our discomfort is to sit and acknowledge it. Please visit often.
Rose – I love the example of how brushing our teeth is a spiritual act when done with awareness! I agree – it’s all about bringing higher consciousness to the very mundane. Life is, after all, made up of mostly the mundane and ordinary.
Shirley – Thank you for your comment! You’re right, the Universal laws are all-inclusive!!!
Blessings and thanks for the discussion!!!
Andrea
Hi Andrea,
I am really surprised that you have gotten some flack from a few people for your new focus. I think it does take some courage to dive into it as money is a taboo subject for some people. But I love this new focus of yours!
I feel that my path of entrepreneurship is a spiritual one too. It is what pushes me to grow as a person and like you mentioned in your video, it is not so much the financial goals and the money that excites me, but the proud and sort of amazed feeling from actually doing it and reaching that goal, and expanding into something new.
Thank you so much for your innocence and honesty towards yourself and others, you just persuaded us in our unconsious levels to feel innocent about money. That was crucial to us. Me and my wife opened up today for the first time to dare, love our selves in an innocent way.
