The Value of Being Clueless

in Manifest Your Desired Outcomes,Meditation and Awakening Consciousness,Money and Spirituality

I’ve recently realized that the secret to my rapid business growth in the last year is that I actually have no idea what I’m doing.

Of course, I do set very clear intentions.  Then I shift my energetic state of Being to align with that intention at the various dimensional levels of my existence. I then take further action as guided, following the energy of what shows up in my experience. (Sounds nifty, right?  It is! You can learn how this Saturday – visit here.)

But if you ask me “how” I’m going to sustain or grow my business in the upcoming months or years, I’ll tell you that, while my mind may have a few ideas of its own, I’m actually completely clueless.

From one month to the next, I have no business plan, no elaborate enrollment system, no growth strategy.  And every time my mind thinks it needs to be clever and come up with an actual plan, that plan fails miserably … and my intention still unexpectedly manifests from a completely different direction.  It’s like the Universe is patting me on the head, saying: “That’s a nice idea, dear.  But I can do so much better.”

We’ve all heard that the “how” is not up to us.  And at the same time, we know that taking action is important.

So if we don’t know “how” to create what we want, and it’s not up to us anyway, what actions are there for us to take?

Here’s my attempt to reconcile these two concepts.

1. The first purpose of action is to shift our energetic state of Being at the physical level. This level of action doesn’t seem to make much practical sense, but it allows us to attract new results on the physical plane.  (I talk about this in the free teleclass I taught last week.  If you missed it, you can still get the recording here.)

2. The second purpose of action is practical, linear action.  It’s not that we dictate to the Universe “how” to make our intentions manifest.  But for the sake of our own belief system and to make it a little bit easier on the Universe, we need to open some doors of opportunity.  In other words, if we want to manifest more money, creating a possible avenue of income would certainly help.  If we want to manifest a future life partner, we might want to go out in public once in a while.  That sort of thing.  If we don’t engage in this sort of action, we may receive only symbolic manifestations that carry the energy of our intention, but aren’t really the physical, “real-life” result we were hoping for.

3. The third purpose of action is to make course-corrections.  After all, what we think we want and what truly resonates as authentic self-expression will often be two different things.  Sometimes we have to experience ourselves in one reality for a little while before we can hone in on what aligns with our intention in even greater ways.  In practical terms, that can look like we’re changing our minds, but we’re really just finding our energetic sweet spot. (For example, I completely took private consultations off my website for about a week to experience that particular reality, and then put my hour-long sessions right back.)

This is often where we fall short.  Our mind thinks that is has The Answer in the second kind of action.    The mind enjoys being right, enjoys knowing and having a plan.  If we forget that we actually have no idea what will create our desired outcome, we might end up believing our mind!  We might close off all possibilities of manifesting our intentions through avenues we couldn’t possibly have imagined for ourselves.

You are in charge of creating your own energetic state of Being – the one that matches your intentions.  That’s how you’ll attract the results you want.

You are in charge of taking some action … but let’s not kid ourselves for even a second and think that we “know” exactly what will create the reality we want.

We are clueless.  Let’s take a whole lot of pressure off our own shoulders and embrace this reality! And let’s recognize that, in spite of not knowing one heck of a lot, we can manifest all of our intentions, anyway.

Blessings,

Andrea

Andrea,

Boy, that was really great validation for me! That’s the way I’ve run my life and yet, as a sales person, I’m constantly told how I need to write goals, set actions steps, measurements, etc. I hate all that. I know it’ll all work out, I just don’t know how and it always does work out well. However, I DEFINITELY wouldn’t say that out loud at a sales meeting.

In your article, I was reminded that my intention could be sharper and my energy more directed. I thank you for that.

I also thank you for continuing to send me your information even through I’ve only taken one class of yours. As I reach my full state of abundance, I will be enrolling again.

Sincerely,

Jean

Hi Andrea!

I was interested to read that your plans when you make them don’t always work because I’ve noticed the same in my business.

For example, about one month ago, I set an intention for an ambitious income amount and had made concrete plans for reaching it.

But then, like you said here, it was like the Universe was saying ‘nice try, but no…!’ to my plans. Instead I developed a sudden interest in going back over things I’d discarded in the past (like the spirit guides coaching that I thought I’d never do with clients) and found myself launching that instead – and loving it!! So, not only did I reach my income goal this month, but I started doing this really FUN new program with clients. Thank you universe :)

thank you so much for this article Andrea! this completely resonates with me. I’m a clueless person whom doesn’t even dare to admit it, and I’ve kept trying to formulate some elaborate business plan, detailing every single thing to be done, but at the same time I’ve felt strong impulses to just throw myself out there… in big ways. ta-da! everything makes more sense now. keep those great articles comin! =)

I like how you explain the gap between not being in charge of the “how” and needing to take action anyway. Great post!

Andrea, I received this post in an email and I have to say …I have received a lot of emails from subscriptions in the past related to both Internet Marketing and Health and yours is the FIRST that I’ve read from start to end. I just love it, keep them coming :)

I am thinking of a quote by Deepak Chopra from one of his books- I believe it says one of the faults of the spiritual seeker is -knowing where you are going, also,- having a time frame.I have been living like this my entire life!Thank you for the affirmation in this post. “If I knew where I was going I would be lost”

“every time my mind thinks it needs to be clever and come up with an actual plan, that plan fails miserably”

OH MY GOD! So true! That is why I really try not to think too much about the details and go with the flow. It’s taking some practice and patience to really do this, but I am getting better all the time.
