Today I am finding myself sitting by the ocean as I’m typing. Instead of sweltering in the Arizona sun, I am enjoying San Diego’s cooler, breezy summer weather. I’m not on vacation. I just realized sometime last week that I didn’t have to endure 110 degree temperatures if I didn’t want to. What’s the point of having a mobile business if I never take advantage of being able to work from anywhere with an Internet connection?
And yet, I’d never gone anywhere else to simply work, just as I would from home. Sure, I traveled to go to conferences and workshops … but just to get the heck out of town, taking my regular client and class load with me? Quite frankly, I never thought spending the money on airfare and hotel would be worth it, just for the change of scenery.
I was wrong.
Now that I’m sitting here, endless possibilities have suddenly opened up … and I’ve been here for exactly three hours! A single walk on the beach while talking to a client, and my outlook on life has changed.
Leaves turning in New England in October? I want to be there!
Fireside on a snowy mountaintop in the winter? Yes, sign me up.
The crazy part is that I’ve had this mobility available to me for about a year now … and never really bothered to explore all the possibilities it offered.
We all have untapped possibilities in our lives – things we could do and explore, if only we dared overcome the inertia of doing what we’ve always done. We talk ourselves out of what’s possible, because it seems impractical, or perhaps not the most reasonable choice. Why spend the time, money and effort on going to San Diego when I could simply work from home?
Because, whenever we do something new, we are transformed.
What have you always wanted to do, but held off because it just wasn’t practical?
What have you told yourself could wait – until the kids are out of school, until after your sister’s wedding, until your business has grown a bit?
Possibility lurks in every corner of our lives, ready for us to bring forth something new and different – to try it on for size and see if it fits. Whether that possibility is a trip or a craft project or a business venture, it holds transformational power. Explore a new possibility, and you will experience yourself in a different way.
What possibility can you step into?
Blessings,
Andrea

While you are in San Diego, if you want a good veg meal, visit SIPZ fusion cafe. Let me know if you want some good tips about San Diego. I can point you in a number of good directions, especially if you like spiritual exploration. California is not only the land of fruits and nuts, but also of a wonderful spiritual diversity.
Enjoy the sea breezes!
Love it! Yay for mobility!
I am building my web presence to be able to live in Italy for a few months…I want to work and I want to travel…what better way to do both? I totally get what you’re up to and applaud your decision.
The freedom to work anywhere, anytime I want is the primary motivation when I went solo a couple of years back. Am close to getting there now and reading this post got me all excited.
It will be great if the Universe puts more wifi all around! (Currently either developed cities or expensive hotels get good internet coverage – it will be nice to work in some secluded island.)
Go on with your bad self!
You’re absolutely right about all the points you made in this post, however, I’d like to focus on the first one: that you don’t have to deal with 100-degree heat if you don’t want to. How many of us are “putting up with” and tolerating things because we forget we have choices, a say in the matter. Hats off to you, Andrea! Enjoy that beach!
Hi Andrea
Congrats on leaving your home and taking your talents on the road. I have one question. How are you conducting your classes? Are you using your cell phone or the phone at the hotel?
Enjoy our California sun!
Diana
Welcome to San Diego! I have been going back and forth to Scottsdale over the past few weekends to visit my husband while he completed some new training. I know how hot it is there and how nice and cool it is here!
Your blog is so right, and sure is inspirational. It makes me laugh at all the limitations I put on myself. How lifting those and letting them go can make a world of difference in my every day life.
Thank you for writing this and bringing the thought into the front of my to do list
It leaves room for an eventful and fulfilling second half of the year!
Love and Light,
Nicolette
That’s a forehead-slappin’ Homer Simpson moment…”doh!”
I do need to get out more too, just to shake things up…but it seems less urgent when things are damn near perfect right here already.
Glad yer havin’ fun, Coach!
ReddyK – Thanks for the offer … I’m not doing much exploration on this visit, more beach-bound work!
Zan – Good for you … a whole new world awaits!
Winnie – I totally agree with you that the whole world needs more wifi! I’ve thought about getting one of those 3G cards … but I’m so spoiled from high-speed connections. At least most hotels have Internet available.
Suzanne – You’re so right! No more “tolerating.” If we can do something about a situation – let’s do it!
Diana – I use my cell phone. And my class recording systems are done over the Internet. While I could conceivably do it all via my iPhone, I AM going to be in my hotel room for our class today, on my cell phone.
Nicolette – Can’t wait to see where fully explored possibilities will take you!
Blessings,
Andrea
Andrea I love it. Keep embracing the infinite possibilities, and keep posting your progress. I’ll be following your lead in the near future. I have no doubt about it, but my social conditioning is very strong. There is a construct that I have agreed to abide by, and I feel beholden to it. It is crazy because my spirit craves freedom. But first I have to break the bonds( or unlock the chains?) on my mind.
