All of our intentions always manifest themselves, right? So why is it that sometimes we don’t manifest what we want?

Often, the answer can be found in the concept of “what we want.”

Most of us are not clear on what we want for ourselves. We might set intentions around what we think we should want. For example, we want a new relationship. We make the request for a life partner. Our concept of relationship just assumes that a “partner” is what we should want. But what if, in the context of a romantic relationship, we don’t really want a life partner? What if we want more of a life companion? There’s a subtle but very real difference. A “partner” implies making decisions together, co-creating, and a certain level of dependency. That’s great – if that’s what we want. But a “companion” is someone who walks alongside us on our journey. What if what we really want is a companion, but we’ve requested a partner through our intentions? Well, what shows up will be a very confusing mess. The Universe takes into account both what we requested literally, and what we “really” want. If the two don’t align, we might end up with a jumbled mess of relationships on our hands.

We might also set intentions around what we think we could get. Let’s say we really want to make $6,000 a month. But we don’t think that’s possible for us. And so we settle for an intention of $3,000 a month. In the end, we may not even receive that much. Why? Because we’ve just clearly stated to the Universe that we’re willing to receive less than what we want. Or perhaps we end up with a bunch of very difficult clients we end up resenting. That’s because we may carry a certain amount of resentment around the $3,000 we’ve had to settle for in our intention. It’s not what we “really” want, and we know it. What manifests itself will, without doubt, also not be what we “really” want.

When we set our intentions, we have to do so with complete authenticity. We have to get very honest with ourselves, even if that means asking for very big things, asking for what might not be popular within our family, or asking for something different from what most people might want.

Your life is already a perfect reflection of your intentions. If you don’t think you’re creating what you want, perhaps it’s time to look at what you “really” want.
