There are several little items I wanted to share with you over the weekend, but a common thread to weave it all together into a comprehensive article remained elusive! So, what the heck – I’ll just share what I wanted to share, and leave it at that!
Detox Update
Twenty-two days into my thirty-day cleansing program, I thought I’d give you an update. Energy levels are up, my weight is down by a whopping ten pounds, and I’ve lost 2 and 3/4 inches around my waist so far. Losing weight was definitely not the primary motivating factor here, but it has certainly been a nice side effect.
What’s been most surprising is how easy it’s been. You’d think living on about 1000 calories a day would be difficult to sustain. Not so – the body truly wants nutrition more than calories, and this program gives the body all the good stuff, it seems. I haven’t been hungry since the first week. My main complaint now is that I’m a little bored with it, and I miss the social aspects of going out to dinner and eating with friends.
The cleanse days – complete fasting except for a few supplements – were definitely the hardest. I recommend fasting during busy days when you don’t have much of a chance to think about food. I scheduled my second cleanse day on a Sunday, a major mistake. I had visions of pizza and chocolate dance through my head all day long because I wasn’t doing much else. You’d think that not eating would result in a lethargic, sluggish day, and taking it easy would be the way to go. Wrong! Fasting often increases energy levels. My next cleanse day will definitely fall on a busy week day.
I also recommend taking a day off from the program now and then. This has helped me avoid going into “deprivation mode.” I am, after all, not out to torture myself. Sometimes treating ourselves with self-love means discipline. At other times, it means giving ourselves a break! I assigned myself a “cheat day” for Thanksgiving, and another one last Friday, since I had the opportunity to get together for a …
Psychic Meet-Up!
My fellow intuitive, blogger, and friend Slade Roberson was in town! Slade and I have done some work together in the past and actually share a lot of readers, students and clients. We get on the phone now and then for hours of “psychic shop-talk,” so I was absolutely thrilled that we could spend some time together in person while he was here in Phoenix.
It’s great to know that “virtual” relationships – and doesn’t it seem like we have so many of them these days? – can translate into “real-life” friendship and support. Slade and I travel a very similar path in our own unique ways, and I’m always inspired by his perspective and insight. Slade is about to launch some exciting new classes next year, so be sure to subscribe to his blog!
And speaking of my blogger friends and the New Year …
Healing Your Relationship with Food
Given my recent cleansing adventures, I can attest first-hand to how much we can learn about ourselves by examining our relationship with food. My fellow blogger Lola Fayemi is launching a six-week teleclass series in January to help you heal your relationship with food from the inside out. She’s holding a free, information-packed preview call on Tuesday, December 16th. You can sign up for the preview call here – create both freedom and control in your relationship with food in the New Year.
Blessings,
Andrea

Your cleansing sounds really interesting! I was surprised when I learned in my recent biopsychology course that a longer fasting phase (as opposed to the cephalic stage) is better for the body because it is less taxing as your body doesn’t have to try and resolve homeostasis after ingesting food; most folks around where I am believe that it is better to graze all day, but I find the increased fasting phases have helped me incredibly. Funny enough, the science actually goes back to at least 1956, I found.
And, kudos on your virtual to RL relationship.
I actually met my fiancee online 12 years ago, and it’s a nice thing to hear about other folks’ success stories.
Thank you, as always, for sharing!
Lovely photo of you and Slade – I wish I’d been there too!
KL
Thanks, Dreamsenshi! I know, fasting is an incredible process that is widely misunderstood.
KL – I wish you’d been there, too!!! I have so many blogging friends where I wish we could just call them and invite them out for a cup of coffee … it was nice to actually be able to do that with Slade, even though he was just in town for the week! Don’t you feel the need to visit Arizona?
Blessings,
Andrea
I just finished my own 14 day detox program. Since it’s autumn, my body thinks this is good — in the spring, when it’s naturally more appropriate to do detox, we can do more thorough one.
I’m also experimenting with raw foods. I’m not following a strict regimen like 75% or more raw, but simply incorporating more fruits, veggies, and cultured foods. So far, it seems to be working well.
You look good in the pic, Andrea. Talk to you later.
Andrea……
What a wonderfilled photo……….
Your Energy is Shining!!!
That detox must really be doing some fantastic inner work……..
Blessings!
The picture of you and Slade look awesome!! You’d never know. You may just get a visit from a Singaporean one day!!
On the virtual relationships: It does seem like there are less of those. I kind of thought that’s what Web 2.0 was all about, yes?
Maybe we will get it right with Web 2.1 or something
What an incredible treat it was to finally get together and have those cups of coffee together! (As if we even need caffeine to chat for HOURS, right?)
I always knew we’d meet one day; I’m so happy it happened so relatively soon.
Andrea and I were very conscious of how many of you we’d love to have had sitting at that table with us — we would’ve needed a conference hall of course! May that happen one day in the near future.
Andrea is absolutely lovely in person. An amazing trip I will remember forever.
Love,
Slade
You know Andrea … if you and Slade are planning for a face-to-face workshop together, I may seriously consider flying halfway across the globe to meet you both in person!
You guys are gorgeous!
