There are several little items I wanted to share with you over the weekend, but a common thread to weave it all together into a comprehensive article remained elusive!  So, what the heck – I’ll just share what I wanted to share, and leave it at that!

Detox Update

Twenty-two days into my thirty-day cleansing program, I thought I’d give you an update.  Energy levels are up, my weight is down by a whopping ten pounds, and I’ve lost 2 and 3/4 inches around my waist so far.  Losing weight was definitely not the primary motivating factor here, but it has certainly been a nice side effect.

What’s been most surprising is how easy it’s been.  You’d think living on about 1000 calories a day would be difficult to sustain.  Not so – the body truly wants nutrition more than calories, and this program gives the body all the good stuff, it seems.  I haven’t been hungry since the first week.  My main complaint now is that I’m a little bored with it, and I miss the social aspects of going out to dinner and eating with friends.

The cleanse days – complete fasting except for a few supplements – were definitely the hardest.  I recommend fasting during busy days when you don’t have much of a chance to think about food.  I scheduled my second cleanse day on a Sunday, a major mistake.  I had visions of pizza and chocolate dance through my head all day long because I wasn’t doing much else.  You’d think that not eating would result in a lethargic, sluggish day, and taking it easy would be the way to go.  Wrong!  Fasting often increases energy levels.  My next cleanse day will definitely fall on a busy week day.

I also recommend taking a day off from the program now and then.  This has helped me avoid going into “deprivation mode.”  I am, after all, not out to torture myself.  Sometimes treating ourselves with self-love means discipline.  At other times, it means giving ourselves a break! I assigned myself a “cheat day” for Thanksgiving, and another one last Friday, since I had the opportunity to get together for a …

Psychic Meet-Up!

My fellow intuitive, blogger, and friend Slade Roberson was in town!  Slade and I have done some work together in the past and actually share a lot of readers, students and clients.  We get on the phone now and then for hours of “psychic shop-talk,” so I was absolutely thrilled that we could spend some time together in person while he was here in Phoenix.

It’s great to know that “virtual” relationships – and doesn’t it seem like we have so many of them these days? – can translate into “real-life” friendship and support.  Slade and I travel a very similar path in our own unique ways, and I’m always inspired by his perspective and insight.  Slade is about to launch some exciting new classes next year, so be sure to subscribe to his blog!

And speaking of my blogger friends and the New Year …

Healing Your Relationship with Food

Given my recent cleansing adventures, I can attest first-hand to how much we can learn about ourselves by examining our relationship with food.  My fellow blogger Lola Fayemi is launching a six-week teleclass series in January to help you heal your relationship with food from the inside out.  She’s holding a free, information-packed preview call on Tuesday, December 16th.  You can sign up for the preview call here – create both freedom and control in your relationship with food in the New Year.

Blessings,
Andrea
