Choosing conscious awareness is definitely preferable to waiting for life to show us – often quite painfully – what we need to change. So how can we go about choosing this conscious awareness? If we’re really ready and open to embrace consciousness, no matter what may reveal itself, how can we practice this in every day life?

We are the Creators of our experience. Our life is the Creation, the perfect reflection of us as Creator. Every event, every conversation, every occurrence was created by us, for us. Our life is at all times a perfect mirror of who we are. This responsive, malleable Universe is the ultimate, all-encompassing feedback system that reflects our every intent, thought, and action and informs us of the nature of our choices. There is no judgment, no good and bad. There is only choice and consequence. It’s a perfect system … if we pay attention.

Here’s a simple, but highly effective exercise I’ve been practicing for the past few days:

Write down everything that has happened in the last 24 hours. This doesn’t have to be a play-by-play of every single action you took. Rather, just review the last 24 hours and jot down the events that stood out to you, no matter how silly or how big or small. These may include things you did, conversations you had, or events that you noticed happening around you. You will probably come up with ten to twenty items. If you have more than that, you might be thinking a bit too hard!

For each item, write down the energy you associate with the event. There is no right or wrong answer here. This part of the exercise just allows you to connect with the various energetic qualities you created in your life through its events.

Now have a look at your list. Soak it in. What does all this mean to you? Quick, go with your first instinct! This is not an exercise in reason and logic. This is the mirror of your life, communicating with you through symbols, energetic qualities and Divine nudges. The interpretation of your life’s language goes beyond thought, so do not try to process its information purely in the mental realm.

Just to offer an example, here’s an excerpt from my own list of life events:

-Woke up tired (energy: drained)

-Cleaned the house (energy: resentment – I hate cleaning)

-Went to the gym and my usual pieces of equipment were out of order (energy: relief from routine)

-Ate Chinese food that contained sugar, which I’m cutting out of my diet right now (energy: denial)

-Took a nap (energy: still drained)

Here was the startling conclusion I gained from staring at this list for half a minute or so:

I really don’t enjoy maintenance. I love creating! Maintenance seems dull and unexciting in comparison to creating something new, and that is why I shy away from “maintenance” activities. In order for me to successfully sustain anything – a clean home (hah!), relationships, my business – I must bring the energy of creation into all maintenance tasks. I have to think in terms of re-creating something new out of what already is, in order to bring enjoyment to the process of maintaining or sustaining anything.

This was actually quite a revelation to me, and one that I can definitely use to make choices in my future. How did I get from my little list to this conclusion? I have no idea! I definitely did not “figure it out” mentally. It was what leaped into my head and resonated with me as my truth. And it can really change my life, if I so choose.

Your life speaks to you in a language that is comprehensible only to you. You have created all of your experiences so that you may see yourself reflected within them – all of yourself, including the unconscious, the subconscious, and the Divine aspects. I invite you to gaze into the mirror of your life for a few days, and become conscious of what you see.

Let me know how this works for you, and share your revelations in the comments section!

Blessings,
Andrea
