For many, prayer has negative connotations. Some of us associate prayer with a religion we no longer practice. Some of us simply don’t believe that prayer really works. And, when we do pray, we are usually more comfortable praying for others than praying for ourselves.
I would like to offer a new definition of prayer: A conscious activation of our resources on the spiritual plane.
When we are incarnated into a physical body, we have access to vital force energy. This is the powerful life force through which our Soul animates our physical body. By coming into the physical, our Soul accesses this vital force energy and has the opportunity to act as Creator. This is the experience for which we incarnate. While we are in the physical, this vital force energy is directed through our conscious intent to shape our experience in this lifetime.
Perhaps our most immediate resources on the spiritual plane are our Higher Self and our Spirit Guides. Our Higher Self is our Soul self, the larger part of us that guides us throughout our incarnation. We are each also assigned four to six Spirit Guides to offer us additional guidance in this lifetime. These are positive beings who are furthering their own spiritual evolution by giving us assistance. Both our Higher Self and Spirit Guides have a perspective on the events of our life that is far broader and more encompassing than our own. They can view our current situations and issues through a frame of reference that spans many lifetimes, dimensions, and aspects of time and space. But for all their wisdom and insight, our Higher Self and Spirit Guides do not have access to vital force energy. They can offer us information, but they cannot create our life experiences for us.
When we pray, we give our Higher Self and our Spirit Guides permission to harness our vital force energy and work on our behalf. Our Higher Self and Spirit Guides can now take action in accordance with our intent. They can assist us in manifesting our desired outcomes. They can orchestrate synchronicities, arrange the most beneficial timing of events, and remove obstacles from our path. But before they can do all that, we have to create a conscious intent to receive their assistance. In other words, we have to ask.
Why would you ever pass on such an incredible resource? If there is something you are wanting to create in your life right now – and there usually is – then ask for assistance! This doesn’t have to be a lengthy or elaborate request. Here is a very basic formula for effective prayer:
- Call upon spiritual assistance. I personally use: “Divine Creator, Divine Agents of Creation and Creative Energy Streams, Divine Archangels, my own team of Guides, Teachers, and Angels.†I repeat each name three times, representing the focus of my intention at the conscious, subconscious, and spiritual level. You may want to call on Jesus Christ, Allah, Buddha, Krishna, Mother Mary, Earth Mother, or a specific Archangel, depending on which deities you wish to ask for assistance.
- Make your request. For example: “I request assistance in manifesting my desired outcome of …. into my physical experience within the next three months, in accordance with my highest path and purpose.†Be specific in stating what you desire, without imposing too many limitations.
- Say thank you. This acknowledges that your request has been received and carried out on the spiritual plane. I generally close with: “In the Highest Good of All, thank you, thank you, thank you.â€
If you are reluctant to pray for yourself, remember that your Higher Self and your Spirit Guides are deeply invested in assisting you. You are here to have a joyful, fulfilling lifetime. You are not taking away from anyone by asking for what you desire. Activate your resources on the spiritual plane through prayer, and see what happens.
Blessings,
Andrea
